Thinking of joining local pickleball club so I can bean boomers

If pickleball hasn't invaded your area yet, it will soon.

TL;DR It's a "sport" that boomers are obsessing over. It's basically fat/old person tennis.

Thinking of joining a local club just so I can bean those geriatric pricks. People usually treat it casually, but I'm going Billy Madison dodgeball style. 100% hits every single time straight at the domes of those wrinkly nut fukkers.

My area has tennis courts and pickleball courts right next to each other6. It's such a pathetic sport. I see them there all the time dinking the ball over the net back and forth.

I've been asked to play it when I'm playing tennis, especially when they used to play it on the tennis courts (before the pickleball courts were built). Which is like asking a chess player to play a game of checkers. The ease of the sport defeats the point of it unless you have bad knees, bad ankles, a bad back, and walk with a limp or something.

Naples has a Pickleball center and it’s all anyone talks about. People always asking me why I do not play.

Nope.

I play all the time. /noboomer

if you are a 5.0+ tennis player you basically start out as a good pickleball player, I've seen tennis 5.5+s come in and dominate right away just through footwork and stroke mechanics alone even not knowing the rules.

Its a great sport for older players because you can still improve and skill up even when you are not in physical prime anymore unlike most sports. I went from a 2.5 when I started to a 4.5 now in 2 years carrying a knee injury.

Its legit some of the most fun of any sport I've played.

What stroke mechanics? You just dink the ball over the net and there is no real serve. It's a paddle sport with a plastic ball so you can't put any spin on it. There is no overlap. Footwork? Rofl. Yeah, I see pickleball players split stepping and unit turning before hitting a backhand.

You are probably a 3.0 player at best. I can't see any high level tennis player enjoying it unless it's just to play while drunk. Tennis players where I live hate pickleball and pickleball players. Although they are less annoying now that they have their own courts.

Sort of a sign of the times that even racquet sports have turned into something where you barely have to move. I'm heading out to play tennis in half an hour where you actually have to run. I guess it's so older obese people can say they play a sport?

Do you even break a sweat playing?

Tennis is hard in general. Much harder than something like basketball. Most people can't even serve properly. It isn't just about running. It took me years and hundreds of hours to perfect my serve. You can be a good pickleball player in about 5 minutes. That's the biggest difference.

The people who like pickleball aren't just old or out of shape. They are also people who just get frustrated by difficulty and can't play tennis at a reasonable standard.

you can walk on a court and play pickelball for the first time and have fun. if you have two people who have never played tennis try the same thing it will not be a fun time.

lol you should play me. Cant put any spin on it... clearly you have no idea.

And yeah tennis players are often phaegs ( much like you) but most of them end up loving pickleball despite their saltiness.

Never actually played tennis, but is it really that hard to serve. I can understand if you try to serve like a pro, but couldn't you just lob it over as a beginner?

Yeah I remember playing pickeball few years ago and this middle-aged lady was complaining that I was targeting her by hitting to her. She was really slow and I'm not sure what she was even doing on the court. The reason I stopped is because having to deal with the boomers. I'm thinking of getting back into it though but I don't like things that everybody else likes

You can lob it over, but that doesn't prepare you to eventually serve properly. Most people lob it over and never improve upon that because you have to take steps backward and resign yourself to missing almost every serve for a while to learn to serve properly. There is no natural progression from just lobbing the ball, to doing that a bit better, to eventually serving well. So very few people ever properly develop it.

To serve properly, you have to begin with proper mechanics and do it very poorly until you learn to do it better.

You said you know 5.5+ tennis players who picked up pickleball, which would suggest you know a bunch of 6.0 players, which is the level of NCAA div 1 players and people who travel the world playing ITF Challenger events. In other words, you're full of **** and nothing you say matters.

The 5.5+ players you mentioned are probably 4.0 level. If that.

you are a retard, and have no idea about high level pickleball so stick to tennis and being elite, because clearly pickleball is beneath you so you shouldnt bother with it.

Im not sure why tennis phaegs like you get so worked up about it, congrats on the elite tennis ability, glad you enjoy it, and anyone who isnt 20 years old and doesnt have 10+ years put in to be a 5.0 tennis player is lame, I know.

Pickleball is the devil's game. It's only acceptable to play if you are over 70 or morbidly obese and just starting an exercise program. Otherwise, play fukking tennis.

Tennis players only care about pickleball players because they take the courts and get pickleball lines painted on them. Or tennis courts get converted into pickleball courts.

I've had pickleball players get annoyed that I was playing tennis on a tennis court. Then they ask you why you don't play pickleball when the entire point of tennis is the difficulty of it. They are fundamentally opposite activities. Legit like asking a serious chess player why he doesn't play checkers. Yeah, I'm sure there are high level checkers players too.

Pickleball players act like, since they are in the majority, that their "sport" is more legitimate. When their sport is only more popular because most people are averse to difficulty.
