What is life like in Alaska?

Anyone here live or know someone who lives in Alaska? Actually seems really awesome with spectacular scenery and outdoors scene.

I'm a plank owner on that. Didn't have the hanger for helo when I was on it. Sailed it from Baltimore through the Panama Canal to San Diego where I took leave and then flew to Kodiak Alaska and did close to a year on that Cutter before transferring to the airstation to begin my basic aircrew/maintainer training.

I was dreading Alaska till I got there. Beautiful place. Liked it there. Would recommend.
