How do you deal with friends moving away, relationships constantly changing, no permanence?

Some people are fine/happy with it, some aren't. Is it cope, mindset, sad cruel fact of life?

No matter what you do chances are things will change somehow where you aren't around the people you wish you were forever. At least in tribal days you intimately lived with a small group of people, and though there'd be death there likely was that same cohesive unit that mostly remained intact or would get replenished.

You just keep rolling. What else are you going to do? Find your reasons to get up in the morning and do it.

You need to be the anchor. Something needs to ground everything else. If you ever have kids you better understand that.

My dad lives 5 miles from the house he was born in. He still hangs out with the class of 1980 football team about once a month, even though they are all in their 60s.

I left the state for a "higher ranked" college and threw away what little social circle I had.
Then I graduated college, moved out of state for a job b/c "labor is mobile" and lost that social circle from school. Now I work in a Pajeet-tacular office, in a city where no one really cares if I'm alive or dead. Career maxxing turned into social circle minning.

And that's sort of by design. The economy doesn't care about your ties to homeland or to friends or family. You are a rootless mobile labor widget, meant to be shipped around and consumed like a barrel of oil or a bushel of corn. It's more efficient that way. Helps push stock prices higher.
