Still deciding whether to drop chemistry and go tradie or try a different degree. I don't want to do computer science (srs). Probably can't get in engineering.

Any courses/fields I should try out before committing to just dropping?

Chemistry has a couple STEM sloots, but has horrible job prospects with a BS, and is really more of a pre-grad school degree. BRB working in a drug lab handling other people's piss all day for $16/hr.

I'd switch to business. Sloots galore and EZ classes. Job prospects aren't good, but not a lot of things outside of hardcore STEM these days have good employment prospects.

There are actually some in the field. Usually not that hot but I've seen decent ones. Most have been framers. And there are cleaning crews on site

However, you could do electric service and there you're going around to people's houses. And when we did remodels there were a lot of sloot interior designers

But big commercial and industrial chit prob don't have many sloots. You could work at a hospital though. College too

I did chemical engineering, worked out pretty well. It's a tough major but worth it.

Pick any career that pays well and you can pull any sloot you want. If you dont want a degree in compsci then just look at doing certs.

Choosing a courses by how many sloots there are is stupid af. You are still at a uni with sloots everywhere, clubs and societies with sloots and halls of residence with even more sloots.This. Whatever you do OP, drop chem, a lot of unis don't even run chem courses anymore. FAPaggot's comment also applies to a lot of bio courses, stay away from those too.

Ever thought about something like nursing? Still green science-adjacent, plenty of hiring demand, pretty solid pay (at least in the US), isn't a sausagefest, and it can give you a sense of fulfillment (if you don't find the patients too annoying).

I have a few friends who've become nurses in the past few years, and they all seem to be happy with their decisions.

Electrical Engineering is GOAT by far (especially followed up with a mid-career MBA) BUT if you can't handle the heat, then something like finance or accounting would be good

If you are in any way academic, nursing sounds an epic fail choice. The top of that profession is the same as my clinical scientist gf got 2 years in. There have been some abolute horror stories about the profession by misc murses too.

If you really want to be blue collar OP, be a tradie, build your own business and recruit young tradies to do the work and take the money. The people that do this are richer than many STEMcels and didn't have to grind through calc classes or be a nodding dog in meetings with some self important MBA spewing buzzwords.

Nursing - Dream job, youre usually the only male nurse or one of a very few. You are surrounded by nurses that love to take care of others and slooty af. Nurses have one of the highest divorce rates in the nation while doctors and computer science guys have one of the lowest.
Also great to be on catheter duty as you get to touch as many dinks as you want.
