Spend time with the people here that you love.

And I would suggest you mentally prepare to never return. You may physically return, but the country and/or your own POV may be so different that it still does not feel like home anymore.

ETA: FWIW I've got a vid running saying that this is a good time to strike out in a new direction or make a change, but as we get further into 2023 it will become more difficult to make a major shift...a narrowing of opportunity if you will.

I have a small business in the US. I use that income and travel to Asia to chill and work for the other half of the year.

The beauty of a small business is that there's little high expectations and maintenance.

I have a remote small business and can live anywhere with an internet connection. It's what I plan to doUS might give the most freedom but not that much more compared to other developed countries.

Things change. Right now the trend doesn't seem positive, but on some level change is change.

I've come across a lot of individual accounts from people saying that when they left the US that they lost weight and generally felt better. Then when they come back to the US the food here makes them sick.

I've become accustomed to DFW somewhat again, but it changed a lot in the 6 years or so that I wasn't living here. I made visits, but that isn't quite the same...staying somewhere a week or so vs. year round.

New things are built, old things close or are torn down. Neighborhoods and demographics change. Roads/traffic patterns change.

And when you have been away you get hit by all that change at one time vs. gradually seeing small differences here and there.

One that was jarring for me was crime and cost of real estate. When we moved up to MI they had higher housing prices than our area in TX and the crime reports on the new seemed worse. Moved back and now the housing here is as high or higher than the housing prices there and over the past couple of years the amount of crime is wearing.

True, everything is accelerated to the max. Even 2023 is unpredictable
