I've seen similar claims elsewhere.
Apparently, mindfulness exercise retains fluid intelligence of the brain of mid-20s, which not far from the peak. Otherwise, brains lose fluid intelligence by half or more during adult ages.
I find mindfulness meditation a little wanting. I wonder what substitutes work.
Endurance exercise seems meditative, especially something in nature.
Long-term attention to something external and alive seems like the recipe. Maybe a more harmonious exercise involves something social, like flow in a team sport.

Great thread.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

Mindfulness doesn’t have to be meditating.
I find it very easy while doing large repetitive tasks.
Peeling potatoes, shucking peas, butchering chickens etc..
It’s a bit more limited in scope, but if I couldn’t lose myself in work/the moment for atleast a few hours a day I might lose it.
Like when you sit and meditate I try and feel connected with my place in the universe while focusing on my body and breathe until my place and everything else’s place just becomes where I am. But it’s hard as fuk.
When I’m working it’s just me and the potatoes and knife or whatever.
