Not saying he was right at all, still a theif, but WTF were they thinking leaving a large bowl of cash sitting there just begging for someone to do what he did.

Gratuity culture is fine, it's just been abused. First of all, tipping is only for certain job titles, such as food servers who do the full service. Order takers no. Also, 15-20% tip should give any decent server a decent wage.
