How long are 2020-22 homebuyers stuck in their homes for?

Home prices are going down. The fed is raising interest rates, treasury bonds are increasing.

Looks like 2020-22 homebuyers could have underwater mortgages soon. They can leave their home if they want to sell at a loss, but it’s going to take years to break even.

In b4 retard mouth breather comes in and acts like their Zillow Zestimate mirrors reality.

im a rentcel and am not gonna cope and pretend like renting is better in any way. People with 5 bedroom houses have smaller mortgages than my studio apartment. And theyre building equity. Renting is terrible but I'm too broke to afford a home cause I blew my load in 50 too many escorts.

Would he rather be a degenerate or have a stable nuclear family? Tough choice there, no wonder whites are becoming a minority.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I would pay more in property tax in Texas for my house than I would pay for my 1 bedder in Sydney. Make more on Sydney as well. Just lol at the cope from rentcel wanting to be owners.

If you bought before 2017 you ok if you can keep your job and not get divorced which is no one.

Watch the values of all these miscers homes plummet. No one wants large amounts of land or nice homes outside of New York and Cali

2020 homebuyer checking in

My house is currently only up maybe 55% from what I paid for it. That’s just a guess though. According to Zillow it’s more like 70%

Is it over for me?

One of the dumbest fkn things I probably ever heard of anyone doing was this one coworker I have who bought a new home in that was built in 2020 - 2021, which he moved into around fall of 2021 or so. The guy already owned a decent middle class tier house, but apparently he needed more garage space for his various bullchit, and his wife wanted "the perfect house" or some chit like that.

So this dude went and dropped like $450k to get a new house built by a company who let him make alterations/add-ons to one of their cookie cutter home designs (yeah, he's one of THOSE guys who will act like he "designed" his house bc of that). Split level house with 3 bathrooms and 4 or 5 bedrooms. The same house could have been built two years prior for probably $300k.

Now the one way the guy did do well is that he got a great interest rate locked in (who didn't?) on it. Having said that, he probably added 15+ years to how long he'll need to pay that thing off compared to if he had just refiananced the decent place he already had and been done with it. Also, he's absolutely up chit creek if he finds himself needing to sell within the next decade.
Yeah, sounds like he would have been better off just paying off his old home, banking cash to be ready for the fire sale.

If what Keyboard guy say is true (selling his home in 2021, and renting for this year and next, then buying at the 2023/4 price), he could potentially end up with a couple 100K profit.

Don’t know too many that went all in on that strategy though. That is the smartest one.

This is the American/Canadian/Australian consumer though. Totally indoctrinated by marketers. People go bankrupt because they can’t pay off their credit cards that they overcharged attempting to peacock-symbol their insecurity.

You heard it here first, buying 50+ hookers doesn't make you a degenerate.

But i bought a triplex for $1m, but have a variable rate lol, mortgage is up $1000 since i bought it in 2020 im still breaking even with the rent but i don't think this will last long lol, anyways im in for the long term, i only bought it because real estate was getting crazy here in Canada and i felt that it would have been my last chance to enter the market

25 acres and a barndo I own..

All of it.

Raining outside and car needs x,y,z done to it? Meh. Lift downstairs. Gym closed? Lol..what gym? Weights downstairs. Roll up my back "door", and can shoot from the coffee table next to my sectional.

Some of you need to start thinking smarter. Like, seriously. And ditch the bitch who "just needs" a McMansion.

lol @ the last sentence

The point is people payed 2x what these homes would have sold for just 2 years ago, in certain cities. If there's a correction all those people are gonna be underwater on their loans, unless they don't move anywhere for the next 30 years, but they still bought at the peak of the market and grossly overpaid.

I've been watching this the entire time, and it's weird to see the change in attitude now considering this was obvious. And I don't even mean on the misc, I expect people here to troll and gloat, but people who are supposedly experts and the advice they've given people during these last 2 years of madness.

Bought at start of covid where there was a Dippitty dip, but not the dip of the dippitty dip. Locked in at a VERY low interest..... Very Happy ATM.

Wouldn't want to be in the position of wanting/ needing to buy a home atm tho.

Wasn't the best time to buy, but if you have a house in a desirable area you aren't losing anything.

Sure, if you want to live in the same spot for 10 years. I think the average homeowner stays in their house 3-4 years…

You 'think'? What does the data say? I'd be willing to bet most people buy a home with intentions on living in it at least 5 years. Lots of people buy a home with the intentions on living in it forever. Though with incomes rising and all that people often upgrade homes. I'd be surprised if people ho bought a home at the top of the market with sub 3% interest rates are planning on selling in less then 10 years.

Housing market may dip but will most likely recover in 10-15 anyways.

Whatever will I do with my 2.6% 30 year fixed mortgage that's inflation proof and only about half of what I could get from some poor rentcel who's going to be paying 10% annual inflation on his hovel for who knows how long?

Home prices are only going down because people saw what others were selling for so they put their home up at a crazy price to see if anyone bit. Things are just coming back to reality right now but I wouldn't expect a crash. So much money has been bumped in, its not that homes are worth more its that the dollar is worth less.
