Disneyland vacation next week with the family - Tips?

I last took my family to Disneyland about eight years ago. It was a perfect family vacation for us. Every day we stayed till closing and the kids fell asleep walking back to the hotel. At the time I had three kids, since then I've added two more and we decided this was the year to take everyone back. Anyone been lately and have tips? We're planning on 3 days next week at Disney/Cal. Adventure Park with beach days Wednesday and Friday. What's the best beach for the family close by? My daughter wants to find seashells the rest of the kids will just play in the sand and ride boogie boards. Thanks in advance.

Hope it's not that bad. My older kids all have really good memories.

It's all good, I have spares of each variety.

Not required anymore, which is good since we're all unvaxed. Face coverings have been dropped, too, except in a few locations, I think. Look at my profile pic. You think a few germs make me nervous?

Newport beach by balboa pier is probably the closest nice beach to Disneyland. You can also drive slightly further down to laguna beach where there's more action and shops and activities.

For Disneyland, with kids make sure you use the parent swap feature. Also if one of your kids or your wife can pretend to be retarded during a zoom online interview you can get the DAS pass for the entire family which allows you to not wait in lines(you still have to wait but can go do something else while waiting).

Your kids will love the new star wars land. Rise of the resistance is the best ride in the entire park.

If you don't mind splitting up, using the single rider lines will save you a lot of time, especially at smugglers run, the incredicoaster, radiator springs racer, and space mountain.

California is sh!t but only for us residents. Not gonna ruin your vacation, have fun and don't put anything visible inside your car.

Pepper your angus srs

You need to make a reservation now, but I assume you know that

Fastpass isnt free anymore and you have to pay out the ass for fastpass and then on top of that, the E-ticket rides charge another fee per person that costs like as much as a meal

Chapek has basically called Disney fans' bluff and seeing how far they can nickel and dime customers... My entire life I've had zero hesitation to pay a premium for Disney parks because it really was a premium experience that made other parks look like jokes... Now it's the other way around and Disney is just coasting off the brand while putting in zero effort... Walt would be embarrassed srs

My advice: don't even try to compare it to your experience years ago... Reset your expectations and just enjoy the classic rides they haven't ruined yet

Gotcha on recharge. We have our reservation made. Goal is just to relax and have a good time. Tuesday is my birthday and I'm planning to get one of the pins so all the staff can wish me a happy birthday. Anybody get a birthday pin and get some birthday boy perks? My kids care about my birthday more than I do and I think they will get a kick out of it.

be aware you might see a huge family of overweight astronauts taking up the whole walkway, walking really slow and totally unaware that they are holding up the whole park. Also talking super loud to eachother even though they are 2 feet from eachother

Ffffuu at bringing 5 kids to Disney. You're wild.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Yeah Genie+ and LL is the way to go nowadays. I have been a passholder for 16 years and this new genie+ and LL is basically pay to win. I was just there last Thursday too. You get screwed over royally without it. With Fastpass it was fair game to everyone. But now if you are in a regular line, they will let everyone with Genie+ or LL ahead of you. I have seen lines that say 15 or 30 minutes actually take over an hour as you watch herds of families go in front of you. So you can no longer trust the app times.

As for nearby beaches somebody mentioned Balboa Island which is pretty cool. Has like an old beach town vibe but high end with some cool shops the kids would like, ice cream etc. on the other side of the bay there is like an old school beach boardwalk area with shops and games etc. you can take a ferry across , and Newport Beach and Huntington beach not far. Crystal Cove is pretty cool too. Could also go up to Seal Beach and check out the Long Beach/San Pedro area they have the Queen Mary and some other old ships there/museums.

Have fun OP, I recommend Porto's Cuban Bakery it has an assortment of great pastries and a good breakfast and its not too far from the park 5-10 minute drive and something different.

The Genie Pass on the app is worth it imo because you can get fast passes on whatever ride from wherever you are so you don't need to walk all the way to the ride only to be toldout of fast passes

The Ronto Wrap at the star wars outpost is really good had it the last time I went

Nearby beaches, Laguna is the best imo. Huntington is a dump and Newport is meh

Can confirm this... Almost gotten into a few fights when I ran into with my kids stroller. People are dumb and take up the sidewalk or street and then slow as fuk. Then just stop in the middle of it for no reason.

seriously, save your money and do something worthwhile with it rather than support this globohomo woke company.

deeply srs, you can take a vacation abroad for what it costs to go to disney for a weekend. Get your kids some real culture rather than more of the same.

sad, but they ruined what used to be a great family place.

This is true... I do not call a Disney trip a vacation. We purposely get there ar opening and clear as many rides as we can. After that it is crowded as fuk. After lunch we relax, shop and maybe watch a show ect... Then around dinner time we go hard and try to hit as many rides as we can again. Not sure where you are staying but some of the hotels across the street are pretty nice. Worth it as you can easily walk back to take a nap if needed ect...

My kids are spread out in age quite a bit. Oldest is 16 and would be a handful to snatch, but I will definitely keep an eye on the little ones.

I did actually look at going at of country. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but plane tickets really drive up my prices and I really want to give my young kids the Disney experience. I guess next week I'll know if it was a good idea.

I wish we were across the street. The last time we went we were in walking distance. This time I waited too long and ended up in an Airbnb a few miles away. With my family size I either need a really big suite or two rooms at a hotel and I can usually get an Airbnb cheaper.
