damn, ppl rly be living like kings in south Texas down by the Mexican border?

I’ve seen like several videos on TikTok and even some reels posted to fb advertising houses for like 200-300K down in areas like Pharr, McAllen, and Weslaco etc that are like some baller ass cribs going for that little and here I am thinking they’re like at least half a million or more and here they are like 1/2 the price of that

Is south Texas the move boyos?

Yea but then you'd have to live in Pharr and McAllen and those places are a dump.

I mean it’s not just Texas.

If you go out to the boonies in any state with a lot of rural land, that’s the situation. If it’s close to say a state college there will probably some developer doing modern houses and it’s cheap to upsize to 3,000sqft + homes.



Chit eventually starts getting expensive based off sheer amount of supplies needed (like no matter how I slice it if I changed the light switches in my new house and outlet covers it would be several grand)

But supplies aren’t to bad for a 3-4k sq ft home and if land is cheap and plentiful and a developer is cranking em out, it shouldn’t be uncommon to be able to find a living space like that.

But you will be so far out into the boonies I feel like it’s better to just commit to full on rural living at that point.

In Houston, outside of the loop, when I lived there you could get legit mini mansions for $600-700k. You could get fukken massive and beautiful homes for like $400k.

The biggest downside is that you have to live in Houston.

When you get away from the coasts and big cities you can get a decent house for really cheap. Pretty much all across the US.

The places OP listed near the border are probably pretty chit. But don't mistake rural/cheaper areas as having a poor quality of life. Especially when you have a decent income in those areas.
