lol @ people thinking Taylor Hawkins was a top tier drummer
RIP though srs - no disrespectat alland he's done far more than most ppl in life so not hating.
but lol at ppl thinking he's a 'drum god'. i know it's a respect thing and everyone seems to get overblown when they die but
good drummers - Taylor Hawkins, Dave Grohl, Travis Barker etc
top tier - mike portnoy, danny carey (GOAT srs), neil peart, stewart copeland, ginger baker (maybe), bonzo, marco minneman, billy cobham

The Foo Fighters guy? That band was middling corporate rock nonsense. Can't really speak to his technical abilities, but never heard a single song from them that wasn't Nickelback-level generic.

dave grohl starts, good drummer.
chad smith goes next, good drummer
then danny carey steps up. even though he fluffs the intro it's crazy how you can tell he has better 'feel' than the others. i thought feel was only a thing in intruments like guitar, but nope, you can get it in drums too

It's like comparing Slash to Jason Becker or Guthrie Govan.. Slash is way more famous and regarded as one of the best but he is a guitar baby compared to those two and many more..

OP throwing shade at Mike Mangini by being a Dream Theater fan and only listing Portnoy

Just seems like Lars stopped progressing, and honestly he seems old and tired in live performances now... not just live, even his new albums, just seem like lazy drumming.
I remember reading Kerry King talking about slayer touring one time, said after tour ends he doesn't pickup guitar at all for months until its time to work on new material or the next tour starting. Said he spends about 1 week doing serious guitar work to get back upto speed and is then good to go.
I think Lars is same way, doesn't touch a kit unless he has to, after all these years at it, probably just wants to spend some time with family when he gets home.
