I spent my 20s living in boring suburbs and military bases. I'm still single, healthy and work a decent paying remote job. Thinking about moving to a big city like DC, NYC or Chicago and renting a downtown apartment to experience city life and smash some city sloots for a bit.

Anyone here try something like this before? would you recommend it?

DUDE i just LOVE the hustle and bustle of the big city, it’s so DYNAMIC and makes me feel like i’m in one of my favorite TV SHOWS. you should totally come on down to my studio apartment, it’s got EXPOSED RED BRICK walls and everything, we can crack open a nice hoppy ipa or three and get crazy watching some cartoons on adult swim! and dude, dude, DUDE, we have GOTTA go down to the barcade- listen here, right, it’s a BAR where us ADULTS who do ADULTING can go DRINK. BUT!!!! it’s also an ARCADE like when we were kids, so we can play awesome VIDEO GAMES, without dumb kids bothering us. speaking of which megan and i have finally decided to tie the knot- literally -we’re both getting snipped tomorrow at the hospital, that way we can save money to spent more on ourselves and our FURBABIES. i’m ****in JACKED man, i’m gonna SLAM this craft beer and pop open another one!!!

Yeah it’s fun but gets old, the sort of thing that I think you need to experience to then not need to experience.

Yeah I mean city living isn’t something to do forever. You’d become a pretty big degenerate if you lived in a single city your entire life. But it’s def something to experience for like 3-5 years without a doubt.

Do it srs. I was in the same boat as you and took a job in a big city and after a couple months of my small town mind adjusting I'm upset I didnt come sooner. And I'm speaking strictly from a young single man perspective

It really depends on what you like and your financial situation. If you make good money and can comfortably afford living in the city, it can be a good time assuming you like the busy streets, active nightlife and such....... plenty of places to meet sloots.

If you prefer calmness, and not forking out thousands a month on renting an apartment, and looking to settle down, city life won't be for you.

Its hard if you dont know anyone

Lived 15 yrs in NYC, as soon as i hit my 30's i wanted the fuk outta there. Enjoyed it while i was young though

I lived in NYC for 1 year, but living in Jersey City is a lot nicer for older folks I think.

Reads a bit like cope. Some folks thrive in the big city without becoming "big degenerates". Other folks come to NYC and "lose themselves", never really finding out who they are.

Trying to become established in your 30s is definitely more challenging in a city, but you can still do it.

Buy a house......

Sure your race pace slows down some..... but I just spent two years redoing my back yard and its by far the best decision. Plenty of slooots come over, they ****ing LOVE the minty fresh garage, heated, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, pimped out golf cart. Try having the energy to redo your back yard in your 40s and tied down.

And was still easy to go out when I was working on the house/ backyard.....

Suburbia is for settling down. If you're a single man, do not waste your life there. Move ASAP.

Big cities suck

lol'd, this is kind of an accurate stereotype

City living makes the most sense in your 20's, for 3-5 years maybe, just to experience it and meet people and have fun. After that, city living gets old quickly, and the people who end up sticking around after 30 are the people described in the satirical post above (srs).

IMO the best situation for your 30's (single) is to have a nice SFH in a neighborhood that is still close to the city, so you can take advantage of the economic and entertainment opportunities of living in a city, but with a much nicer quality of life and higher status among potential suitors (an apartment does not impress anyone regardless of how nice it is, but a beautiful house makes sloots wet like the niagara falls simply due to their genetic programming).

This, especially around this time of year depending on the city location and where your friends live. If your purpose is to use it to just smash sloots go to a very big city but you can pick up sloots with dating apps while living in the suburbs. Bar pickup scene you really need to be in a group of friends.

The only thing cities offer are jobs and sloots. You already have #1, so you would be moving exclusively for #2.

let me tell you the real life about city living

1. Constantly stressing about parking. if u dont have a parking spot, easily 5-10 minutes a night trying to find a spot. if you're lucky it's only a 5minute walk from where you stay, could be worse
2. Your car will get hit because the drivers are **** and no one gives a **** about other people's property. get a ****box if you street park your car
3. The city will tax the **** out of you. 1. car tax. 2. BS parking tickets. if you leave to go on vacation, you need to find a spot that will let you park your car for a couple weeks, or the gay ass city will **** your car in parking fines
4. The traffic is ****ing horrendous. every day you will wish you drove a bulldozer so you could shove the dumbasses out of the way. People will stop and not go on green lights. People will stop their car on a 1 way and block the entire street for 5 minutes to let their demon spawn children out
5. The people you meet will be fuking garbage 99% of the time. Every one is always moving in and out of the city, so no one gives a F about making lasting connections, or at the very least, not being a fuking scum bag
6. Related to above point, half the businesses will be scammy as fuk. Rents are high so they are always looking for a way to cut a corner to save a buck. Due to the revolving door of people moving in and out, there will always be new suckers for them to feast on
7. Air quality is ****. No more smelling the autumn or spring
8. **** head neighbors. Always a roll of the dice. They could be having parties and blowing smoke in your windows while you're trying to sleep and not be a degen
9. **** head landlords. If you haven't realized already, no one gives a **** about other people in the city. Prepare for your landlord to be a scumbug and never fix issues, never fix issues with **** head neighbors, try to harass you, and steal your security deposit
10. **** apartments. Everything is overpriced and garbage quality. Gotta be a baller to afford anything decent, and even then you are flushing money down the toilet you could have spent on property or investments
11. Grocery shopping sucks. Either sit in traffic with your car going slower than foot traffic, or go to the store every day because you can't carry much on foot.
12. After you live there for 6 months max you will realize the only fun thing to do is get drunk at bars & clubs and it will get old. You will also realize that the amount you spent on taxis/ubers getting to bars will easily exceed the money you would have spent riding in from the suburbs and saving money on rent.

So my advice is either live right in the city center where you don't need a car and can walk everywhere, or live in the suburbs and enjoy your freedom. American cities are ****.

Usually has to do with money. When I say "big degenerates" I'm not talking about a person using blow on a Tuesday night at the age of 50. It's kind of a light version of degeneracy, where a person is like 50 and still goes out to bars 3-4 nights per week and has been working the same $60k salary job they've had for 15 years without much motivation to improve.

I also have clients who made a bunch of money and are retired living in Manhattan at the age of 50. Things clearly worked well for them, and it's mostly because they got a good job and networked well. But I'd say those people are somewhat of a minority.
