Are the James Bond movies worth watching?
Having seen any of them but my wife and I like to binge series so figured why not
Are all of them good? or are some of them so old and outdated that it's not worth watching in it's entirety?

The sean connery ones are the best. Much simpler stuff, easy to follow plots and very entertaining.
You dont need an explosion every 10 seconds to be entertained. They are cheesy but thats sort of what bond is like so they are good.

Meh...everyone has their own tastes.
Most of the old Bond movies were cheesy and campy. Bond never got a scratch, etc..etc..
A lot of fanbois got their panties in a wad over Craig. TBH, it was more interesting to see Bond being broken, tortured, f'ed up. Made it more realistic.
Kind of how Batman The Dark Knight, and Batman Begins diverted from all the cheese of the rest
Neither character is supposed to be heroic or flawless. And I liked that.
Again, just my opinion. I haven't seen **** after Skyfall or Dark Knight, so who knows?

Yes. The Connery/Moore films are campy but still good, the Dalton ones are more gritty, the Brosnan movies are the weakest but still fun to watch and the first Craig movie was amazing, 2nd ok, 3rd great and 4th kinda bad

You have to understand that they were made in the 60s, so they don't have CGI, etc but what's fun about them is the acting. Also, in the 60s there were no movies like that, so you have to realize that you are watching something very unique for the time.

But when people recommend 2001: A space odyssey because it's a "brilliant film" I question their judgement lol

I like the Roger Moore movies of the 70's .
they are all good movies but adjust your expectations.

There’s a stark contrast between people vaguely familiar with Bond vs veteran Bond fans on the old vs new.
In my experience: your average movie watcher today will tend to think the old ones are dated (talking Connery up through Dalton). Especially with Connery. Some of the effects alone make some scenes look VERY dated- for example the rear projection in car chases. You don’t have a lot of the effects/amazing action sequences you see in modern movies (maybe that’s a good or bad thing)- scenes are more stagnant. In earlier Bond, what made the films stand out compared to contemporary films were not the fancy effects, but the exotic locations (think Dr No tropical island, etc), impressive sets (YOLT volcano lair), and actual stunts (jet pack in YOLT, LALD boat chases and jumping gators, TMWTGG sheriff car jump ruined by the whistle, etc)- stuff like that.
I suspect you and your wife will think they are dated at first watch.
Bond fans tend to like the old ones. They were fun movies: adventurous, with clever humor, many based on the classic Fleming books. Moore’s Bond had a charm, the camp was great. Imo they are MUCH more rewatchable than newer Bond movies like Skyfall, Spectre, No Time To Die- those take themselves too seriously and just aren’t great movies imo.

Give Dr. No a shot. If it's too dated for you just jump ahead to Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. If not, watch the other Sean Connery Bonds. Roger Moore took over for Connery, and his Bond films are fun but kinda cheesy. Personally really liked him, but the films themselves are kinda hit or miss. Skip the Dalton and Brosnan Bonds.

Connerys best is probably goldfinger, Moores Live and Let Die. Safe to say if you dont like those you arent enjoying any of them. Although evrything after Dalton is cgi trash

Critical Drinker has a very well done breakdown of all the Bonds, which also serves as a good overview of the franchise as a whole. Worth watching if considering jumping in before they recast him as a handicapped black tranny.

That's what fake people say to sound smart....that's Brilliant and then when you ask why, they will "just watch it" or if you say you don't like it, they will insult you. However, they can never tell you what you missed that was so great.
If they can, then you should consider what they say.
Anyway, 2001 had some good parts but overall it was 60s hippie nonsense.
The scenes on the spaceship with Hal having a malfunction was actually good science fiction. But, the movie wasn't even actually about Hal at all but it was a movie with much plot.
The original Bond movies aren't weirdness though, they are real movies, and they were a giant success. What's fun is Sean Connery and the way he delivers lines. He's an amusing and ruthless person who is annoying to people but still you can't argue with him because he's right.
Also, most of the stories were 60s somewhat realistic science fiction, meaning uses of technology that could actually happen.
As a side note, Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee was fun.
He's kind of an Asian James Bond in that one.
