Economically speaking, we watched a country literally develop. I remember when Hyundai and Kia first came to US shores. They were absolute garbage. They have come really far, and it’s very affordable to a huge % of the US, meaning, it’s another step towards a lower cost of living and lowering poverty.
On another note, Asian companies tend to have higher standards for safety too, so they might cut corners on some quality in order to increase safety. That’s not a bad virtue to have in business. The result has been American companies increasing safety ratings to be comparable to the Asian industry.
That’s how the global economy and competition works, and it’s a GOOD thing. More choices = better and less expensive products.
Finally, car theft is punished more harshly in Asian countries as well. That was likely not a top priority, but typically steps can be taken to decrease the ease of stealing them, like a stand alone alarm system, cameras, GPS…

Has KIA even made a car that wasn't push button start in the last 3 years? This only affects cars with a key for the ignition - and don't pretend like every GM car in 90's and 00's didn't have this problem. You can take a key to a 1994-2004 GM vehicle and open nearly any other GM vehicle.

KIA is just going through what Toyota went through. Literally the same company, just different culture within the same race line. They make nice cars, just like any other car manufacturer. And reliability depends on many factors - it doesn't rely solely on the car maker.
It really comes down to this:
what can you do with plastic, metals, and glass? A mercedes is still made out of the same materials as a Toyota. But what you do with the materials is the name of the game.

Get into the higher levels and you begin seeing the product of people who have apprenticed in chit like leatherwork and then spent years honing their skills. You get hand-painted or wrapped components, much higher attention to detail, more skilled labour involved in assembling everything, more QA/QC checks and rework that increase cost but also quality, etc etc

On another note, management plays a big role too. American managers are commonly hired across the world due to their efficiency and methodologies. Good management can even lower costs due to efficiency and raise product quality without too much cost.

I thought they were using the USB to generate electricity into the car... But no, they literally use it just as a lever?

Of course, at the moment, there is no way to measure this. This is why I'm working on breakthrough software for car manufacturers to help them take less responsibility for faults of the owners. This is not completely true. When the Nissan CVT started to have problems, this cost Nissan millions. But there was way to measure how owners drove the car. And people weren't taught how to use CVTs. When in fact, CVTs are quite cutting edge technology(and "reliable").

Japan went thru the same **** - got the blueprint from America/Germany.
The way people look at "made in China" is how we looked at "made in Japan" back in the day.
China will have its turn too
Asians follow whites.

Man, that channel is some obnoxious zoomer chit, but still interesting.
That's the thing about cheap ass cars, they are usually easy to steal. I know Hondas were a favorite among car thieves for a while.
