Called 911 last night
Around 3 am deep in our sleep we heard weird noises. it sounded like our garage door opened but the noise also didnt sound like anything else that belonged to our house and couldn’t exactly tell whether it was coming from inside or outside.
Right after the noise, we lost power and i got out of the bed to look out the window. 1 of our cars is outside and i started staring into it, it looked like a book reading light was on and i swear i saw movement inside.
Mind you, I have a wife and 2 little girls and I am on crutches due to surgery. I said fuk it and called 911. Told em someone was in our car outside and they got in our garage. I came to this conclusion because 1 my wife often forgets doors unlocked and car has garage door opener. 2 once they gained access to garage, power controls are in there so they could’ve cut electricity into the house and after our car they could proceed to get inside. I also wasn’t sure if the door leading from garage to inside the house was locked or not. The keys for the cars were in the kitchen and I had a brand new car in garage too. Too much was at stake even if they didn’t make their way up stairs to us.
Anyway cops came and they started searching outside and with flash lights while i was on the phone with operator. At first thought they were thieves because they parked their cars away and came out of bushes. Misinformed operator there..
Operator told me to go outside to talk to them. I go outside and notice no one has power in the neighborhood. Cops tell me right when i called they were a couple of miles away and saw a big flash of light and boom. They didn’t know what it.. and said there was no one around thieving we were safe.
Found out this morning that someone rammed into an electrical box not so far from our house and caused a huge power outage other neighbors heard this undesirable noise as well. But from out bedroom window it looked like both my neighbors had power.. if everyone lost power, why did i have a light reflecting into our car?
One thing I forgot to do when power went out is to check nest video feed history. It showed nothing out of ordinary.
2 lessons learned:
1 buy a large flashlight
2 keep my gun in the bedroom.
I dont know if i pussed out and called 911 too soon but couldn’t risk anything with a family inside that I couldn’t defend.
