Why are so many pitbull owners also anti gun?

The contradiction between the two issues hurts my head. Why would you be against owning an inanimate object that can only do harm if the user chooses to do so, but for people owning an extremely violent and unpredictable animal in which the owner has no say in whether or not it causes harm to someone?
