American healthcare with more regulation is possibly the GOAT implementation of a
healthcare system.
I think all problems (outside the demand of leeches) of US healthcare can be fixed with more regulation (e.g. cost of drugs) without a public healthcare.
The best public health systems in the world (Switzerland, Germany, UK, Singapore, South Korea) are doing OK only because they outsource to the private market at fixed rates.
But a most innovations are born in the USA as a private market is a ripe environment for that.
That is why it is better to have a private system with strong regulation (due to the nature of the business) rather than a public one with heavy private market involvement.
