Is it normal for a woman to put on a good amount of weight during her engagement?

Like 20-30 pounds? (not 100 lbs or more because that would just be ridiculous) Now understandably, she's going to have a lot of celebrations going on during that almost year long period, not just the bridal shower/bachelorette party, but friends constantly having her go out for drinks and to eat because she will eventually be tied down with marriage. I once overheard one woman saying to an engaged woman "well you better go out with your friends now, because once you're married you won't be able to, lol."

Is this common? I'm assuming once the marriage happens, things will settle down and she will return to her normal weight and stay at that weight, correct? Again, asking for a friend.
