I'm 5 classes into jiu jitsu....
I'm addicted. This last class, I am still getting submitted every time or at least NOT being submitted until the timer goes out, but I am the only newb, so everyone is killing me in the rolling (which was expected).
I'm very glad I went. I don't see myself stopping (unless I get injured and am forced out).
There is a very lanky blue belt who I can kind of manhandle by holding his arms and just keeping him in half guard so I don't get submitted. It's a ghey move, but I'm just trying to survive lmao.
I got out of an armbar last night for the first time and my instructor saw it and commented on it. Feels good mane
Anyway, I straight suck right now, but definitely can't wait to get my first submission...

what submissions and guard passes have you been shown so far?
Rather than holding that blue belt in half guard you should feel free to let him pass just so you can feel the flow of different positions and movements. Like, hold him for a while in half but then rather than waste the entire round try to get as much experience from each roll as you can.

Rarely in sparring is it great to sit in one position for half the round.what submissions and guard passes have you been shown so far?

Fuark I need to get back into class. Tore my ACL last ski season like a few months after I got blue belt, everyone probably assumes I got blue belt and jetted.
Think I’m gonna get the ok from PT to drill and flow roll today.

Well done mate stick with it, have patience and practice hard and often. Its difficult to do at the early stages but try to relax as much as possible, or you will give your intent away and be easier to sub
Also do a fuk ton of stretching/yoga in your free time, it will help you on the mat and aid in recovery
