Moderna's CEO admits only the vulnerable need COVID booster and likens virus to flu
Not everyone needs to get an annual Covid booster, the head of pharma giant Moderna has admitted.
The company's CEO Stéphane Bancel said his shots are mainly targeted at over-50s and people with underlying health conditions.
His comments seem to be at odds with the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) which is urging everyone over the age of five to get boosted.
The virus is now predominantly only killing the most vulnerable because the US has built up strong immunity through high infection rates and repeated vaccine rollouts.
Mr Bancel told a finance conference on Monday: 'I think it's going to be like the flu. If you're a 25-year-old, do you need an annual booster every year if you're healthy?
‘You might want to... but I think it's going to be similar to flu where it's going to be people at high-risk, people above 50 years of age, people with comorbidities, people with cancer and other conditions, people with transplants.’

This message is exactly all I have been saying now since probably mid-2020. I'm not one of these magnets/doom/everyone-dead anti-vaccine guys, but I have adamantly insisted that based on what we've known for some time -- Not everyone needs or even should get vaccinated.
For that, the usual pro-covid lunatics have lambasted me repeatedly.
Pisspants, I'm singling you out -- you have been wrong throughout this, you are wrong now and if you had an ounce of integrity you would apologize to everyone for your constantly misrepresenting other's stances and then acknowledge that all along people who felt as I did were correct and you were played for a fool.
All the fuktards who screeched about not trusting scientists and how awful our critical thinking was - No, we were right. You are always right to stop and think for yourself.
Anyone can look at the people who died WITH covid. It's elderly and sickly people, people who will or would have died anyway or would have had a high percentage of it. That alone tells me who needs to consider the vaccine and those who do not need to worry about it.
Those who died WITH covid: Average age 78, 80% obese, 2.8 comorbidities on average. The vaccine does not keep you from getting covid and the vaccine will not keep you from infecting others. These are indisputable facts and that tells all I need to know about it.
I do not need a bunch of paid off scientists interpreting that raw data for me and neither does anyone else.
For that, the usual pro-covid lunatics have lambasted me repeatedly.

And nowadays with body "positivity" etc most people are fully in denial about their own fatness. So won't even admit they fall into those categories.
I agree that people who are genuinely fit and healthy won't be significantly affected. I ran multiple 10k and 15k trail runs while I had it, meanwhile my ex was coughing up blood. Was running with another guy last weekend who ran a full blown ultra (100k) whilst infected; he barely noticed he was sick. Obviously he wasn't fat or unfit tho.

And "overweight or obese" ends up as too broad a description for severe illness or death. A 50 yr old that's 20 pounds overweight is a very different risk than a 50 yr old that's 80 or 120 pounds overweight (very obese).

All of those three go up with age and obesity. People don't die from covid due to being fat per se; they die due to the health issues that you tend to gain from being fat.
This is why you see racial disparities. Blacks have higher rates of hypertension and indians have higher rates of diabetes.

You don't know more than the CDC nor does this quote change the fact that the vaccines are safe and effective and should be taken by everyone who is eligible.
And your "indisputable facts" are a joke. Just because you keep repeating the things you want to believe over and over does not mean they're facts.
It's always funny though when anti-vaxxers think they finally found the evidence to prove they knew more than the experts all along... Fuking LOL
