Is Filipino food underrated?

There’s no family restaurants near me

Lots of Vietnamese and Thai food
Chinese
Japanese
Korean

I’ve had some of the noodles before and their chicken
**** was yummy

And lumpia’s too

more like properly rated. doesn't really have widespread appeal outside of filipinos or people close to filipinos

things are sweet that shouldnt be sweet.
filipino spaghetti is fukn ketchup and hot dogs
vinegar everywhere

turon is hnng tho
dinuguan and kare kare also solid but really off putting to westerners

If you live in a navy town there are TONs of places. Its ok, on the greasy side. But i will eat pancit, lumpia, and the bbq pork skewers when my neighbor brings me leftovers. Adobo is probably the best thing they have. I also like the little coconut pancake roll thingy desserts

The filipino food here in US is not really authentic.

Anyways here are my favorite filipino food:

*Turon ( wrapped in spring roll, with caramelized thin slice banana and cooked crispy)
*Palabok ( These flavours can come as shrimp-garnished sauce and serve with a variety of toppings (meat, pork cracklings, shrimps, fish flakes, hard-boiled eggs, scallions and spices).

If they served lumpia in bars it would be so popular. Also, doesn't a lot of filipino food take longer to cook than other Asian foods?

Filipino food is chit. They eat bland chicken and gravy and white rice.

They put hot dogs in their spaghetti.

They have no resemblance to any other Asian foods.

I've had Filipino food prepared by actual Filipino's and I think its pretty bland stuff. There is a reason why we don't have a bunch of Filipino restaurants in the US.


Filipino and Malaysian food are probably my two least favorite Asian foods.

As a Celestial Asian, I can confidently and accurately tell you Flip food is right where it belongs: it's bottom tier.

Nothing about it stands out. There isn't a world famous worthy dish. Their staple food is just an off shoot of your basic Chinese cuisine.

Top tier: Thai, Viet, Sichuan, Haka
Mid: Japanese, Indonesia, Cambodian
Low: Mongolian, Korean, Filipino
Trash: Taiwan since it's not a real country.
