Just read ened by a drunk driver doing 95mph

I was coming home from my son's football game about 2 hours ago. On the freeway doing 65 in the number 2 lane . I see headlights coming up behind in the nunber 1 and I'm like holy **** he's flying. I keep a eye in the mirror and about 30 yards back he starts drifting into my lane. I tell the family hold on we are about to get rear ened. He hits us without braking and we start spinning and end up down the embankment. Wife already out of work for one year with a ****ed up neck . 3 kids in the back . Son has bruise on his forehead from hitting the back of passenger seat. Luckily we were in a new Tahoe. My left Back and neck are a little sore .

Wtf do I do now. Drunk driver driving a brand new tesla

So drunk he didn't even know he was in a wreck and he was looking at us laughing while we were getting checked out by the ambulance .

This. Dude would have used at least two of his 9 lives if I was conscious and capable after an accident like that with my family in the car.

OP, hope none of your family has any lasting injuries from this accident. Good on you for maintaining situational awareness. Scary stuff dude.

Not a fan of suing people for random chit but given the circumstances, I would bleed this POS and his insurance dry with lawsuits. Ded fkn srs.

Thanks . I work emergencies for work and I always stay calm. While we were spinning I was telling my family over and over we are fine. Once we went down the hill and I heard all my kids voices say they were o.k. I felt alot better.

2 issue I have though, my wife was just put on permanent disability for a neck injury at work a year ago. She was just cleared to go back to work with a weight limit. She had a interview yesterday for a new job and we really need to her to get the job. This better not mess that up. The other is my 13 year old daughter is special needs , she's really shaken up and was crying non stop. . She will be bothered by this for a long time. By 2 teenage sons are highschool football players and like I'm good just sore.

That's intense bro glad no one was killed or seriously injured.

What an *sshole laughing like that, he should probably be in jail and won't be laughing then.

If you are going to drive drunk, hit people, and laugh about it, you're a threat to society.

If it was a Camry, your injuries would have been only 1/3rd as bad. The extra weight of electric vehicles makes getting hit by a compact Tesla Model 3 comparable to getting hit by a Midsize Toyota Highlander and that's the lightest Tesla available today.

Totally agree with everything Azrairc just said. I second it all, as a matter of fact.

I was in a rather bad accident myself once, but due to settling out of court, I can't talk about it. But I can tell you that all of what Azrairc is good advice.

I know I'm a new poster and I don't know anybody here and likewise, but my sympathies are definitely with you.

Yes he got arrested. That's when he looked over and was laughing at us, when the cop uncoffed him to give him a sobriety test. I heard the cop tell a fireman he's so drunk he doesn't even know he was just in a wreck.

Glad no one was seriously hurt or injured. Happened to me a few years ago, but the person was doing 60. Hell of a whiplash and concussion. I hope you will see the person and their insurance in court.

Damn son best of luck but honestly you won't need it-- insurance companies get every $ they can in situations like this I agree with others that you all should see your docs and PT's if needed to help with the insurance claim. I once had to swerve from an absolute maniac of a driver and my car spun out and hit someone else's car. It wasn't a very bad accident their car only had a dented fender but the family I hit got 50k out of my insurance company for it and their car was only worth 10-15k and the damage was probably 2k if they totally replaced the fender, so most of that money had to be for injury etc.

Can't confirm. OP's insurer will only care about recovering the expenses that they are liable for based on OP's insurance coverage. And sometimes both parties have the same insurance company.

So glad you all are ok.

Was there ever a chance for you to change lanes when you saw him coming up so fast?

Get a good lawyer. If you’re lucky maybe the Tesla itself malfunctioned. If that happened, your wife may not need to work again

Theres really nothing else to say except God is good. Glad everyone is ok.

Even if you feel shady doing the above, youre not. Its just what you have to do to get his INSURANCE to pay. Youre not suing the person. Although you should see if you can.

You all should go to hospital and get seen/get X-rays ASAP. When I was rear ended in my 20’s they said if I didn’t go get checked out within a day or two that I’d have no recourse later if something was messed up. I was super sore for a couple days but thankfully had nothing lasting.

We are all sitting in the emergency room right now waiting to be seen.

Now that i have been sitting here for a few hours and have had time to think , we were about a mile up the freeway from a major shopping center with lots of bars and restaurants. Judging by how well he was dressed and it being 9pm , my guess is he was coming from one of the restaurants and put his tesla on auto pilot to get home or something. I have a feeling a restaurant served him to much alcohol. Just my guess right now

My wife just got put on a medically adjusted 12 percent permanent disability for her neck like 3 weeks ago from a work injury a year ago. She has a weight limit of 25 pounds forever . She's a nurse and hurt herself with a patient in a emergency situation. She just got clear to return to a job with a weight restriction and had a job interview 2 days ago for a case manager position. She's been in pain everyday for a year. Now her neck and arm are worse then ever. Sucks man.
