I don't get it you can be an efficient hard worker yet the cronies that kiss ass and and do nothing can get away with anything and get the promotions

When the people running things are bad at recognizing talent, the only option to get ahead is to kiss ass. Bad and lazy managers like this, because it makes them feel good and they don't actually have to try to identify the best candidates to help improve the business.
A good management structure would have all employees treated with equal respect, and those that are interested in moving up would be given goals and resources that would help them move up. Then you have promotions given based on merit, and no amount of sucking up to the boss is going to help. Because a good manager is interested in improving the business, not being flattered.

there is no real way to increase productivity in current "capitalism" so essentially it's play theater resembling Soviet union and simulating work rather than working.

I used to work with a guy that did absolutely ZERO work but he always walked around with a clipboard, looking around and took notes. Whenever a project completed he would take credit for it. At first me and some of the other people that were on to him would call him out with no results. Then I decided to do the opposite and I sent an email after completing some work and I made sure to thank this worthless SOB for his skills at project management. Next thing I know I get invited to a meeting with a bunch of managers. He gives a presentation at the meeting and says how great a job I did and it was because of my hard work and attention to detail That the project got done on time and under budget. I get invited to a project completion luncheon, a promotion and raise at the end of the year because of this. Luckily this was pretty early in my career that I learned this golden rul of business.

I think it'll because I'm a hard worker but the rest of them don't want to do anything tbh. At least that's my gut feeling.

I think my biggest question is how can management treat a valuable employee like this while at the same time just letting someone else do the bare minimum when we are supposed to be a team?

Actually it’s always been like that. It’s how small community’s function. Industrial society causing you to forsake your friends for some weird autist for maximum efficiency is mental illness forced upon us by industrial society.

"The Creative vs The Competitive Plane"
Creative Plane is superior. You build wealth through the mindset of creation rather than the mindset of competition with others.
According to Wattles the defining distinction between the two is that in the Creative Plane, as you rise, everyone who has done business dealings will be lifted up with you. In other words, everyone you deal with is better off from having dealt with you (such as offering a service that improves their own standing), while in the Competitive Plane, everyone is worse off from being dealt with you, and since you are also operating in that Plane, you can be left worse off by dealing with someone else as well.
Get rid of the idea that God wants you to sacrifice yourself for others, and that you can secure his favor by doing so; God requires nothing of the kind. What he wants is that you should make the most of yourself, for yourself, and for others; and you can help others more by making the most of yourself than in any other way.

With the old management team they assigned our work more evenly and we had to rotate each month. With this management team he just sits there while I run around and do 20 different tasks. He doesn't budge from his seat.

It's like that most places OP. Instead of complaining about it, you should work on either being more charming or kissing more ass at work.

It has always been like that.
You will top out at middle management if you aren't competent and competitive in spite of cronyism though.

This is only a thing in bs jobs in big globocorp companies.
If you work on a small team in a smaller place everyone’s going to know who sucks. There’s no hiding and coasting by for your whole career.
Sounds like you work in some non job field like inventory control or data management

I look at job hopping as a major driver of this. People aren't forming covenants with their work in which their success it tied to the company success and they will let their careers die before letting the company die. Now it more focused on "I accomplished x goal and y goal at company A" to use to get hired at company B.
I'm not sure if this is necessarily bad, but I do think it has had a negative impact on the management mentality.

I'm all for it. It's how the Jews do it (nepotism and cronyism) and they own everything.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Cronyism is definitely a huge part of things. But I think the biggest shift in workplaces is the HR and "Equity Officer" type positions who come in and basically destroy companies from the inside-out.
