Covert narcissists
Why do people become like this? They seem to be loners that act fake and manipulate everyone.

I don't think narcissism is real.
They're just people above you, operating on a higher plane, that do not want anything to do with you outside of some miniscule task.
So you call them stuck up or narcissistic when in reality they're pretty normal, just ahead of you in the dominance hierarchy.
They might entertain you for a bit to get something from you, but won't shed a tear if they never hear from you again.
"Covert" narcissists are just the ones who try to be a little nicer about it.

Exploitation and lack of empathy are common NPD traits

Like when you meet a sloot single mom who makes your dick hard. You might go out of your way for a night or two to bang her, but then you'll never want to see her again. Some girls, who's lives are a train wreck are only worth a pump n dump. She'll call you a narcissist.
Then you meet a hot ex-cheerleader, no kids, never married who runs her own company.
You'd give her a kidney if she asked. You bang her a couple times and are so far up her ass she can't stand being around you anymore and you think she's a narcissist. No, she's just out of your league.
Narcissism doesn't really exist, it's a cope people lower on the dominance hierarchy use to not feel like a loser.

A lot of covert narcissism comes from family homes where the parents act like their kids are perfect and can do no wrong, but are emotionally uninvolved with them and unavailable. They also tend to come from more status-obsessed homes. Basically, the kids are told their special and above other kids despite them knowing deep down their parents don't give a flying fuk about them.
This ends up playing out socially when they act or feel entitled to friends, without putting themselves out there. Throw in a culture of participation trophies plus the victimization Olympics, and social media where everyone can be a "legend in their own minds" and we've got the prefect recipe for such person in today's world.

Just because some people are further up the ladder than you doesn't mean anything is wrong with their personality. It's only from your perspective because you can't imagine why they aren't treating you like you matter.

Sam Vaknin, both a diagnosed and self-professed Narcissist has written some of the most insightful articles/books about it. Years ago, when I was dealing with the pain I experienced from dealing with a person whose behavior I still think was Malignantly Narcissistic, I found his readings and started going through them and they made a TON of sense. He somehow "got" himself and was able to translate his mind to "common" people. The following is a link that serves as a directory to excerpts of a number of his works. They're on Project Gutenberg, which is a credible repository.https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/2702It's linked-to from his Wikipedia bio page.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_VakninI would especially recommend one of the links, on the Gutenberg site, entitled "Malignant Self Love".

How can a man be respected in his community if he only cares for himself?
As for India, what we know as the caste system today is mostly a product of British colonization.
The economic elite of society is sequestered into their own bubble, when you are an adult you choose how you live.
If you are living in luxury and privilege while others live in poverty and hunger, what does that say of your character?
It's one thing to be born into a certain circumstance, but when you become a man you make a choice in your character.
I don't envy the rich man, I don't hate rich people either, but I know the world is corrupt and that power corrupts.
Nothing built by man lasts forever, no political or economic structure or great work or anything made of our hands.
When the time comes for corrupt authority to answer for its crimes, I will not be afraid of repercussions.
It is more important to have a clean conscience than to dominate others, because death comes for all.

Narcs actually operate on a lower plane rooted in deep seated self hate.
All of their grandiosity is a carefully crafted mask to hide that fact.
