At least the Hydrant charge was only $2.40. Sounds reasonable.

Gotta be honest, I have no idea what the running cost of water really looks like, but I feel like $65k for 6 MILLION gallons of water ain't bad.

I thought my usage was a couple MILLION gallons but never 6 million. My neighbor might be stealing my water.

That happened at a place I worked. I was the controller, we got a bill for a medical office and I calculated it out and the volume was enough to fill over 100 olympic size pools. Try to reason with the guys in the NYC water department. The CEO got so mad you would have thought I personally filled all those pools.

The meter reader had been estimating for years and when he finally retired some poor guy actually went out and read the meter. I've seen this happen with multiple different municipalities and it's always a chitshow

A leak can really give someone a shock when they get their bill, too, although Retoaded's number crunching shows that isn't what happened here. It looks to me like a billing software/meter problem. The bill says the reading was 0 and use was 7878. Their calculator assumes the meter showing zero means it rolled over to 10,000 (2122+7878 is 10,000). My guess is the meter is bad.
