I wasn't on the side of getting Halloween candy to give away to any neighborhood kids who might have come up and knock on our door. So few have visited in Halloweens past that I figured what's the point, plus post Hurricane Ian, things are not as normal, anyway.

My mother said that there are more kids in our neighborhood than used to be. She wanted me to get candy, so I did.

Big mistake. A few weeks ago, my doctor tested me as Pre-Diabetic. My mother knew this. Not surprising, actually. For umpteen years, nothing to look forward to in life, so sweet tooth, it shall be. Again, not surprising.

Well, got about $40 worth. A big bag of Butterfingers, a medium bag of Reese's, a gigantic bag of candy corn, an gigantic assorted bag of decent chocolates and non-chocolates, and 2 small bags ($1 bags) of Smarties and Candy corn.

I was going to restrict myself to the $1 Smarties bag. My mother decided that in addition to the $1 Candy Corn bag, at least the very big bag of Candy Corn was not off limits to us, rather than keeping it for the kids.

Thanks, Mom. Wonderful encouragement to keep me from getting Diabetes II. Like I needed any more problems.

I gave the Halloween Candy away to neighbors. Out of house. Problem solved. Temptation within household negated.

If the neighborhood kids want candy, they can get it from somewhere else. They would not be able to withstand the stuff I've had to put up with in life.
