He'd have in ears for sure, but those likely serve as a backup in case something happens to the other ones. Or one specific sound is coming through them rather than a mix.

Drumming is easy. They all have a light that goes off on each one and they follow it like guitar hero.

Many musicians use custom IEMs.

I have a pair myself, hook them up to an RME ADI 2 DAC at my PC - bliss.

The natural noise isolation and fit from these means using them for many hours at a time is easy.

I highly recommend them.

Any serious musician will use IEMs for sure. I have them for singing, they also serve double duty to save my eardrums from the noise.

I didn't buy an audio interface (yet), just the DAC - which will be the last one I ever buy. It has a specific connection for IEMs and is fantastic for my needs.

Yeah longevity is key here too. I can use lower absolute volumes with my IEMs, since I am not competing as much with external noise.
