Affirmative Action Supreme Court Thread

No idea why this isn't being talked about more.

Quite possibly the most influential supreme court case in a while. If affirmative action is made illegal this would have an extreme impact on the racial make-up of the future professional workforce.

The Harvard case was filed suit by an Asian American rights organization. Asian Americans are always treated unfairly by all college admissions offices because of their perceived over-representation.

At first glance affirmative action is woke BS. But the implications of AA being struck down would be hard to grasp. Realistically at the end of this week, all colleges could basically be vastly over-represented (they already are to a lesser degree) by asians and whites and VASTLY under-represented by blacks/latinos.

This is for real. Like, you could wake up tomorrow and suddenly there would be like 5 black students at UCLA and 90% asians. Kinda shocking tbh.

If youre truly gifted the path isnt that hard, no matter what class you are raised in. If you have someone with Einstein-level test results, they will at the least be on the radar from elite colleges/scholarships.

I was unaware that all black people are born and raised in poverty and all white and Asians were not. Thank you for educating me on that, now I know better.

Btw, quick question - you love public education and demand it works, uh... why would it matter if someone went to a poor school vs a school in a middle class area?

But it's not the 1960s or 70s anymore. It's been 60 years. If they haven't been able to pull themselves up with it, it is unneeded.

People have a hard time grasping that not everyone does or should go to college.

It should be for those who work hard and earn a spot. Not someone who slid through because of their skin color or the like.

Who do you want designing that bridge your children cross every day or that airplane families fly on? The diversity hire who got the degree because of a liberal agenda or the student who applied themselves and earned it.

being hard working and focused should be rewarded. being lazy and stupid should not be no matter what race you are.

BRB I only got into a premier college because of the color of my skin and not because I actually have the grades. BRB flunking out of school after the first semester.

I'm kinda torn on this. On one hand it makes sense that merit should be the standard, but I also know a couple people who got in to a "prestigious/private" schools (USC and UCLA respectively) with 2.5GPAs. Strangely, it was their realization of being admitted into such an institution that lit a fire under their ass to do well and they went on to graduate. One became a Software Engineer and the other became a PA...they just needed a chance to succeed.....

To respond to your remark, no i dont care if im a quota or a diversity hire. It's no different than applying to a job and being picked for a position even though you dont meet all the requirements. These jobs don't care about us, it's all about money.

You do not need a degree to make well into a six figure salary either. People that tell you otherwise are just coping and hoping you fall into the same debt trap.

Intelligence and educated are two different things. Water tends to find its level and truly intelligent people end up making it regardless of race or socioeconomic background. They either start businesses or put themselves on a path through smart decisions career wise. They typically outshine their useless eater new grad employees and climb the ladder through merit.

Most certainly they do. I was on the admissions committee for a community college in Northern California....we essentially admitted everyone that applied because we were just a CC but we had full discretion to look into ALL of the applicants demographics and financial circumstances. Most often than not, if there was an issue with capacity we would make our decisions based on the applicants financial stability (their income and the income of the parents), and it was practically guaranteed the minority applicants were far worse off than their asian/white counterparts. BUT if there was a white applicant that was from a low income household they were definitely considered for admission over a black or Mexican with a higher familial income.

The 'race' box should be removed from the application all together. Liberals have shown they can't be trusted with that information

On another note, I'd like to see how these AA programs have set dumber students up to fail by putting them in schools they can't handle.
