The secret to big legs IMO

So I have done it all with legs, done heavy and hard, done 10x10, done high volume, done DC training, done powerlifting, done heavy squats for years, etc....

What I have found to be the single most common reason men are not growing their legs is because they are too much of pussies to use their legs to do the lifting.
Men like to follow the path of least resistence and do what their body wants to do most naturally but just keep adding weight and make only slight modification like "standing wider" "point toes out" "high bar or low bar" but they are missing the point completely and still moving the weight with the wrong muscles.

I admit, doing heavy ass squats is a TYPE of hard. But that type of hard pales in comparison to doing CORRECT leg movements only using your legs. I think deep down most men know this. But they just pick the heavy squats because 1) it feels rewarding after, 2) it feels manly 3) it looks cool 4) they think "if ronnie did it, it may not be the BEST thing but surely if I lift enough my legs will grow"

unfortunately for number 4 that is 100% false, and that is the thinking men get into and never grow their legs and end up injuring themselves year after year and retaining small legs.

The solution is to stop being such a pussy, drop the weight, drop the ego, and practice week after week just using your LEGS not your glutes, hips, and lower back to lift the weight.

Realize its going to be extremely challenging because it is NOT what your body wants to do so you have to fight your body and fight throuhg a different pain unlike the easy pain of just lifting heavy like a juggernaut.

I think high bar and lower weight is better in that regard than low bar, more focus on the legs.

20 rep method on high bar is pretty good for hypertrophy imo

I do bodyweight squats every single time I'm in the gym for that reason.

Helps me train my body to feel the squat in my legs, also helps to work on balance (pretty hard to do with heavy weight on your back).

Another thing I'll do is sets of one super slow squat, like the rep itself takes 20-30 seconds.

Wall sits too, wide leg squats (like really wide) with kettlebells to active muscle that normal don't fire up, or don't fire up well.

I will say the secret to calves is low and slow, cut the weight in like half and take as least 5-6 seconds per rep.

Same thing seems to work for traps and glutes, like for traps I'm doing farmers walks which is basically like one weighted 2-3 minute long contraction, same with glutes.

It's because those muscles get a ton of work especially in short bursts, so quick reps aren't going to really effect them much because they're used to that for your whole life.

Same. I do 3x10-20 bodyweight squats before ever touching a weight on leg day.

I mean I generally agree and would liken this situation to one in which a man say any man you know who may be dating a HTC female looks at his annual plumbing bill and wonders why is this happening well he is clearly not seeing the forest through the trees to apply an overused metaphor heh heh heh but seriously it is because his girlfriend is lading the toilet with absolutely humongous bathes of unflushable fart chowder and he is too weak to aggressively plunger with his tshirt pulled up over his nose and return original flushing functionality and so obviously this situation parallels the original point in that one must consider the broader goals of one’s actions before committing to cynicism that prevents progress in unforeseen circumstances as you all know of course

Is there a contraption that takes ALL of the stress and strain off your back? My back is BEYOND fugged up with multiple issues. But if I could someone attach the weight at my hips, I feel like I’d be fine.

Dorian proves OPs point……
If you ask me what's the best overall single exercise, I would say squats. Great all-around exercise. As far as, if you do high reps, it's great for your cardiovascular system. It's great for overall strength. Is it great for building championship legs? For some people, yes. If their structure means that when they squat they're doing most of the lifting with their quads, it's great. For me it wasn't, 'cause I was doing most of the lifting with my back and my ass; it wasn't great. So I didn't do any freeweight squats as a professional bodybuilder. Not a one single squat. You know, you've got to find if it works for you.
It didn’t work for Dorian because of the structure of his body and Dorian did do (smith) squats , he just found hacks and leg presses better

100%. My legs were tree trunks just from soccer because my coach was insane and made us do full field drills going back and forth in an athletic position (basically half squat position). My calves alone were shocking to most people and my legs blew up simply because my legs did all the work.

I applied the sort of same thing when I was just lifting focused. My most used leg day exercise was 1x20 squats. The weight was heavy enough so that by 20 reps I was near failure (added a little weight each week until a deload), but light enough to where I had full control. My legs would feel like they were ripping my skin from the pump.

Front squats really helped my legs develop. One day heavy, second day high reps. TRT was also a tremendous help. Once I started pinning test-c my leg mass dramatically increased. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

Yes I know. The thing is "squat for big legs" has been repeated for so long that it's just become like dogma and nobody really questions whether or not it's the right approach for THEM even when at best it's clearly not working and at worst they're causing permanent damage to their body.

I have a really bad leg imbalance due to only doing heavy squats for legs.

Huge defined quads but really bad weak short hamstrings and glutes.

Yeah, belt squat machine is what you're looking for. They seem pretty legit (even if you're just a barbell squatter looking for an accessory). I think they can be pricey, though I've seen some workable DIY creations.
