What percent of your daily protein intake comes from Whey?
Sup, misc?
Was thinking about Whey today and I started wondering how much other lifters consume on a daily basis. More specifically, I was wondering whatpercentof their total protein intake comes from Whey.
My Whey intake looks like this:
20g basically right when I wake up (went totally catabolic overnight, bro!) while I am cooking my breakfast.
30g when I get home from the gym (muh anabolic window, bro!) with dinner usually just a couple of hours after that.
I currently average 230-250 grams oftotalprotein intake per day, meaning Whey accounts for about20-22%of my total protein intake.
I feel like that's an okay amount - I could probably find ways to replace a little bit of that with other sources of protein, but it's so convenient and it's not like I'm drinking 30g morning, noon, night like some dudes do.
So misc, what percent of your total protein intake comes from Whey?
P.S. this is not a thread meant to argue on the merits of whey itself, or different brands or anything like that. Just looking to see how much people tend to consume each day.

Currently eating 262g protein daily and 72g of that comes from protein powder.
So a little higher than you, coming in around 27%.

About 30%. A lot of the time I'm too lazy or can't be bothered to cook up something heavy in protein, so i just mix up a protein shake

Now I cook up a few pounds of chicken, throw it in the fridge, and will literally just go to the fridge and eat a few bites of it here and there each day over the course of a week. By the end of the week it's dry and I hate it, but it is convenient and doing it this way makes it super easy to get a few extra grams in here and there throughout the day - makes hitting protein goals really easy.

Used to be high. Like 3 scoops per day. Lately I’ve switched to trying to get it through food and I’ve been on a kick from Fairlife core power. High in protein and also potassium which I’ve had problems getting enough of.

And I don’t just use whey. I do use whey, but I also use blends of milk, beef, egg, etc.
I know it sounds a whole lot like something out of a Flex magazine, but I usually will use one of those blends before bed because it releases more slowly lol. For example Old School Labs is Milk, Egg, Beef and I’ll use a scoop of that before bed.

zero, well directly. I drink a glass of Fairlife milk a day and put 2-4 table spoons of heavy cream in my coffee but that's it.
Whey powder does not agree with me, I use unflavored dehydrated egg whites instead.

Do you see any benefits other than convenience? Or is that your primary driver for drinking that much?

None, at least not in shake form. Hit around 200g of protein a day from food alone.

Total broscience and totally false
Plenty of pro bodybuilders and athletes get the majority, yes the majority of their protein from whey, 60% is about what I have seen for the top end.
The only thing you have to worry about is creating food sensitivities because of having some sort of digestive issue(like being sick or developing sibo/some other gut disorder) when you consumed whatever food, but this goes for any food, but if you are consuming whey 3 times a day the chances of it being in your stomach when you have said issue is high, so thats where digestive distress from Whey comes from. Youll notice these same people will end up usually developing more food sensitivities due to the same issue.
Ive consumed whey for 50% of my meals on average for years. I do use Dymatize iso hydrolized whey though for better digestive quality and it tastes amazing.

0 most days, beef jerky is probably half my average intake TBH; 10 pound bag of Dakota Trails jerky for ~$90. Usually only have whey maybe 1-2 times a month now, if I'm in a rush and not hungry or don't feel like eating, which is rare.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
