LOL @ Elon Musk cucked hard by buying twitter. What a loser

Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists.

Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America. - Elon Musk
brb put in troll offer billions of dollars over priced to troll twitter and lower stock
brb tries to back out and judge says "lol nope" and forces him to buy at overvalued priced
brb now irate that lefty advertisers pull out

The most bonehead business decision in history. I hope that he was actually motivated by something other than money because he just lost a chit load.

Twitter was a propaganda machine. I don't know the monetary value on that, but given the left's meltdown I would say the left paid a big price losing control.

Elon's net worth is almost entirely tied up in Tesla stock, we don't know how much cash he has. People in his position tend to fund their lifestyles through loans, sometimes loans amounting to many billions of dollars, leveraged against their stock holdings.

That's actually an extremely precarious position to be in, especially when interest rates are rising and valuations of speculative stocks are cratering. If it gets bad enough, people in this position can be margin called and it can all collapse quick af.

Doesn't he live in a tiny house when he is not living in the office? Dude isn't exactly living a super lavish lifestyle. Just some turbo autist who really likes running/creating companies and doesn't care about much else.

Edit: Yes, he does.

How many 'richest people' end up on skid row or broke tbh though? He's not some stupid professional athlete or musician. I'm not nuthugging, but it's ridiculous to think this will hurt him at all.

“Almost entirely”. Lol. If you had 1% of his money you and your children’s children’s children’s children would never have to work again. Some people don’t quite understand how compounding interest works.

That's his registered property, he doesn't live there. Elon couch surfs in the many properties owned by his other wealthy buddies (srs) and said he has been doing that for years, these people own so much that they can just hand a spare bedroom, wing, or full house to their friends to bunk in

I'm describing a concept that is way beyond the simplicity of compounding interest boyo, people in Elon's position are often sitting on massive mountains of debt secured against stock options in companies they founded or lead. They're paying huge interest on it, those loans can be margin called if the values of those holdings drop below a certain threshold, and it is actually an extremely high-risk strategy.

Not saying he'll end up broke, but people holding up Forbes net worth numbers like this is silly without understanding what they do and don't mean. Elon doesn't have $200billion in cash, if he did then it would be a different story, and his lifestyle could certainly be impacted in a worst-case scenario.

if you look at it like a money making machine yeah he might have short term losses. however, twitter was openly used to influence politics in America so with him buying it has given a level playing field for real information to be shared which is priceless

These people got their business degrees from Trump University. Terms like "margin call" and "huge interest" just confuse them.

In general Destor's scenario is correct. I don't think it applies to Musk though, since he has a ridiculous # of shares so when he sells it's drop in the bucket for him.
