Just got laid off from my job of 7 years.
Another trucking line bought our company but had been telling us we had nothing to worry about and boom! Came in today and 21 of us are laid off. No one knows how long or if it’s permanent or what. Wtf

Sorry to hear that, brah.
Do you have a rainy day fund? How long can you go without employment?
Do you have a rainy day fund? How long can you go without employment?
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

My client’s wife got laid off from a $175k per year job she had been at for 10 years this week. Things are getting a bit hairy in the employment markets. This combined with 8% interest rates makes this an interesting time.

Damn brah sorry to hear. My work has been slower this year but we're short staffed by an unbelievable margin so now I'm just a total slave. Almost 12 hour day today and that will be most days for me here on out. I'll take the overtime and giant bonus though. Fedex literally raised all packages $3...per package. So now we have to switch shipping companies because fuk them.
What truck line bought you? Chit is getting weird this winter season. All these places getting audited by USPS for the plastic pallets lmao. We can't even get any more of them. Prices are though the roof on everything.
Boyos this ain't good.

More companies are going to be axing people
When you think it is safe, it isn't.
Everyone is replaceable.
These future months are going to be brutal.

LOL @ Twitter employees. Most of them had jobs where they weren't really skilled at anything and were overpaid for menial work. That really isn't needed.
Last recession I learned that companies keep and take care of the good one's. The one's that have hard to find skills and are an asset for the company and they discard those who aren't. I was more or less intermediate at the time. I wasn't unskilled or bad, but I wasn't highly skilled and really all that great. I found that at the intermediate level there is a lot of competition. When the economy got better I made a game plan to get really good at what I do. In this time I watched a vast majority change jobs, change titles/departments, different manufacturers, ect. They went to where the money was, although it was never that much. I put up with a lot of crap I shouldn't have so that now I get away with a lot of crap I shouldn't get away with. Not trying to be an egotistical dik, but not that many people can do what I do.
Do you go looking for a job or do the jobs come looking for you?
Do you send your resume to an employer first, or do they ask you for your resume?
In job interviews, is it you convincing them to hire you, or is it them trying to convince you to work for them?
Do you fill out a job application before you get hired, or after you get hired as a formality?
Your answers should be the latter of those questions. If not, work on that.

They told everyone their job was safe then turned around and laid people off. That's lame and shady as fuk. They did the same thing to me. Going out of their way to mislead people just creates a ****ty work environment. It'll come back to bite them in the ass later on; my last employer almost all the people I stay in contact with ended up leaving the company first chance they got. I'm sure the same would happen at your former workplace, op.
but it sounds like you got things squared away financially, which is good
