What Makes Friend Chicken Unhealthy (srs)

Plz respect SRS tag.

What part of Fried Chicken is the unhealthy part? is it the oil? the breading? Just not seeing which components make the macros so brutal

I ask because air-fryer fried chicken, and oven baked chicken cutlets absolutely slap, and if its just the oil, then i could not care less.

Posting while i guzzle airfried nuggets from a twink-tok my gf showed me. Protons for days.

SRS.

EDIT: I seem to have made the title "Friend" chicken, Regretz.

The extra added oil. The low quality oil. The fats that come along with it. The bleached, processed flour involved in breading the meats.

I cook boneless, skinless chicken breasts in water in a frying pan with a lid. I cook for 45 total minutes, turning the meat over halfway through. I use Kinder’s spice and black pepper

For anyone looking to LOSE weight which is 95% of America... its just extra Fat & Carbs which are already what most of their macro nutrients consist of. So it throws most diets " out of wack"

The thing that “may” make it “unhealthy” is if they use certain oils(partially hydrogenated) for frying and/or the oil is heated to a certain temp in a commercial fryer. Certain oils when brought to sustained commercial high heat can create acrylamides etc. Cliffs: KFC may be unhealthy, but ma and pop places probably not.

Fuark, one of my favorite foods. I had a broken jaw and as soon as the wires came off I got fried chicken.

To the dude above boiling breasts, I hope you rethink your priorities in life. srs

The issue is deep fried chicken from restaurants. They use either soybean or canola oil, which are bad for you straight out of the bottle. Very pro inflammatory. Then consider their oil is repeatedly cooking at a very high temp, which creates nasty compounds (acrylamide and various amines) which are carcinogenic. And how often do you think they realistically drain the oil? Even if they're supposed to drain in mid-day I wouldn't necessarily count on it. The longer the oil is used the higher the concentration of the carcinogens.

Air fryer at home? You're good, especially if using olive oil. Don't use extra virgin though, it has a lower smoke point than regular olive oil. You want a high smoke point for air frying or pan frying.

Dipping anything breaded in bottom tier chit oil to cook it - not the healthiest of options.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

ecto brah checking in

also can shallow fry chicken, which is slightly diff than deep fry from an oil ingestion standpoint. Like deepfrying, ok, unhealthy oil levels.

Pan fried in a generous serving of oil.... Is that as much... idk.

this is just some rando one my girl sent me that i tried out, was pretty good tho. Can do it all without egg wash and breading too and they come out like lil grilled nuggets that you can sauce to your liking.

Marinate some cubed thighs, marinade doesnt really matter, i did - Franks, some yogurt, worcestire, touch of honey

Make egg wash - 2 eggs

Bread crumbs (usually a flour guy) - generous Bread crumbs, paprika, garlic powder

dip marinated cubed thighs in egg wash

dip egg washed cubed thighs in bread crumbs, coat liberally

Air fry on 380 for 15 min and then flip and keep airfrying till theyre the color you like. I accidently let it roll another 15 minutes for a total of 30 min but that was def overkill/unnecessary

1 tablespoon of oil is like 200 calories

now imagine a piece of chicken having like 4 tablespooons soaked into it and the breading, plus add 200 calories for the breading another 200 for the chicken

excess fat above about 50-75g is stored as body fat because our bodies only need that much for function, and unless you are in ketosis the body will just store the rest.

99% the oil and 1% the breading if you really want to complain about the few extra carbs from that
