Yeah makes sense they would be worried. Sony is worth 100 billion and Microsoft is trying to buy a game company worth 70% of Sony lol. Worse yet, that company is a major supplier to Sony that will be taken away. It's a massive blow and alarms should be going off.

What an utter clown, especially as Sony continues to double down on exclusivity deals and price increases.

Scared is a dumb word to use in this context. They are simply looking to protect profits from a business threat. It's what companies do, maximize profits.

It'll never kill cod if it's console exclusive, and Sony ain't making a cross platform shooter better then cod.

They have Bungie now so why not?

And they can revive SOCOM.

Bungie is always going to be too busy milking destiny 2 to create something new that will rival cod. I doubt a futuristic shooter will do it, modern combat really needs to be the setting. So far bungie has basically just made 2 different halo games. Destiny is like if halo became a Loot and shoot, the artistic styles are nearly identical. Destiny's pvp isn't even very popular either.

Socom isn't coming back and even if it does a third person shooter isn't killing cod. Would need to be another first person shooter. Personally I think socom would make a great battle royal.

Everyoneshould be worried. With a company the size of Microsoft with their global monopolization on both home and enterprise operating systems, there should be talks of reopening antitrust investigations with how they're sneakily returning to their 1990s ways but worse, or hell, there should probably be talks of breaking them up, not allowing them to swallow up one of the largest video game publishers on the planet. Barring a full denial, Microsoft should not be granted approval for acquiring the entirety of Activision, Blizzard, King, andthe E-Sports wing of the conglomerate.

It doesn't matter how schitActi-Blizzmight be** or how desperate Xbox fanboys are for exclusives*, but the more of these consolidations of industry titans that are allowed to pass, the worse it is for us in the long run.

*Which should be coming from Microsoft'sotheracquisitions, because the ones they made apparently weren't enough in their ploy for buying a way to catch up after going through an entire generation of drought.

**And as ifMicrosoftis the company to trust to be better? Look outside of what a great deal Game Pass istodayand look at the rest of the company, and you'll realize that they can get fukked with a soldering iron. No please, let's give the company with so much of a monopoly on integral operating software alongside other core software segments that they can outright fire their goddamnquality assuranceto pass on toyouas their unpaid beta tester evenmorepower. At least with Acti-Blizz you just choose not to buy their games every year and all that happens is morons still buy 420 skins made by equally stupid morons who get molested for the privilege of copy+pasting them over from the last game.

It's not even about making a game better than COD, that's the easy part. It's about getting all the people who just buy COD every year because it is COD to buy something different.

Won't be hard with good marketing campaign. Sony is good in that aspect.

Just make a modern warfare equivalent and it's over for COD.

This. Jim had a responsibility to the shareholders. Same with MS. If Jim didn’t try to block this, or Phil wasn’t trying to grow the business, they are not doing their due diligence as an executive of a publically traded company

Jim probably knows it’s not a legitimate anti-competition concern, but he must do his diligence to protect stakeholder profits

When they run Sony out of business I imagine. So hopefully soon. I'm tired of these Sony cucks and them making all these stupid exclusives.
