Married women *more* likely to vote Republican than unmarried men

Republicans won every demographic except unmarried women on Tuesday.

Married men 59%
Married women 56%
Unmarried men 52%

…

Unmarried women 31%

Democrats are essentially the party of unmarried women. All other groups voted Republican. Single women are the sole reason Democrats didn’t get blown clean out of the water this midterm.

There’s a misconception that men vote Republican while women vote Democrat. Not true. The real split is married vs. unmarried. With single women voting overwhelmingly for Democrats.
