Grunting at the gym?

I go way harder than these lads at the gym that are grunting and groaning like they're dying every rep.

What's it all about, why do they do it?

If anything, as far as I can tell, grunting just makes you release pressure, and that's not something you want to do while lifting... you need that pressure to perform optimally.

Some of them are like they're giving birth.

I know the consensus, "it's a gym, make noise"... whatever, I get that. I don't even care about the noise. But it's literally not even necessary, and negatively effects your performance

I think it's a requirement to loudly grunt or yell during your set if you're sub-5'8.

I can understand if it's a dude deadlifting 600+ and needs to make some noise to power through a rep, but when you see some guy yelling through a 315 deadlift it gets kinda cringy.

Or a fat boomer. Then you gotta turn around on the bench and stare at a nearby young guy at the next machine for a while like "oh man that was tough"

its probably because your hard isnt really that hard. I can confidentaly without any narcissism say I go harder than 99% of the people at my gym because I have been doing this longer, I compete and win shows, everyone knows me as one of if not the biggest guy at the gym, and I have an extensive knowledge base in all sorts of lifting styles and have competed in powerlifting and bodybuilding and done strongman with pro strongmen.

But I would but half the guys in the gym think they are going harder than me even though I am going harder than 99% of them because there are levels to this. Lifting heavy weight on compound lifts for 90% 1rm is about the first level of lifting "hard af" of about 10 different levels. Most people never make it beyond that level and think they are bad asses, they are not, not even close.

The most obnoxious grunters at the gym always seem to be screaming while doing bish weight on every exercise.

OP has never heard of RPE?

My suggestion? Stop worrying about what other people do at the gym unless it truly impacts you - and vigorously fist yourself either way to try to cure yourself of your ***g0try.

It's cringing when you see zoomers screaming like a chicken with no head when they are lifting 1 bill for reps.

and this proves my point, people think heavy weight is the be all end all of intensity.... not even close. Try lifting with your legs and not your glutes/lower back one day and learn there are many levels beyond "heavy weight"

problem is people with small brains and big egos dont see the nuances that make this kind of lifting way more difficult.

I think there are two paths -

#1. Make a lot of noise, which is essentially signaling to others for help, or some kind of primal scare tactic, or some kind of crying, I think it's essentially that... basically crying but in a way that is acceptable by most.
#2. Go into a mode of pure excellence, mind on the task at hand, refusing to orgasm out loud for the weight, not allowing it to make you cum... but instead rather controlling yourself under the weight, being the commander of the moment.

Let me further my point by taking this to an extreme, and let me know what you think -

What would be an excellent response, assuming bound -

#1. Giving a rapist audio pleasure while they rape you, and moan and scream for them.
#2. Treating them like they're not worthy of any response from you.
