America is like Boxing Promotions. China is like UFC.
Boxing started off great with no competition and great characters.
However, boxing has devolved recently and tanked in popularity due to rival promotions. Promotions like Top rank/DAZN/Matchroom/PBC etc they create internal conflict in the world of boxing. PBC fighter cannot face DAZN fighter because the PBC promoter doesn't want their fighter to lose to a rival promotion. This stalemate goes on for years frustrating the fans and holding back the sport. not to mention all the ABC belts, nobody knows who is the real champion. They don't want to unify because rival promotions once again. Boxing is a fiasco.
UFC is a dictatorship with the most balanced system in place. Contender A beats contender B then fights the champion. It's very fluid with few exceptions. Fans flock to UFC in a few decades and now UFC has eclipsed boxing in popularity and revenue despite boxing having 100 year history on UFC. It is simply run better.

Boxing is a mess right now.
Bottomline they overpay the top fighters for easy overmatched fights. The guys can make basically the same money fighting 2 scrubs where they have 95% chance of winning as they would facing another top guy in their division for a 50/50 fight but if they lose their revenue takes a huge hit in future fights. So now you got guys in the same weight classes that wont fight each other.
Its like if baseball or football determined the 2 best teams and then just stopped the season there without any world series or superbowl. thats literally life as a boxing fan now.
Also amateur boxing is highly corrupt. They also removed headgear from the olympics and tournaments again to make the fights more exciting but the problem is you wont get the best fighter winning you will get the guys who were lucky to not get cut, they fight too frequently to recover from cuts which is why they had head gear.

Francis was digging sandpits at 25 and driving taxis. then decided to fight MMA and became UFC champion within a few years.
the guy fight for the belt this weekend came over from kickboxing for a couple years, now he's making millions fighting the champion.

Perera made 188k in his last fight, and will make guaranteed 500k for this. Peanuts for a "title" fight.

A single top dog in boxing will probably earn more in 1 fight that ALL the top dogs in UFC combined in a year. Basically my point, boxing pay is exponential.

I am arguing the product. the organization as a whole. UFC is infinitely better run than boxing. boxing is a dying sport just like America.

He got a back stage bonus, but the UFC didn't have to give him it. It wasn't PPV points.

More money for fighters in boxing.
Thus, the super athletes go to boxing.
Not just the super athletes but higher level of talent and athleticism in boxing.
UFC does put the big names against each other but it’s simply branding and hype. How quickly we discovered McGregor and the bish who lost to Holly Holmes was garbage. They elevate talentless white stars for mor views/profit.
More reward and freedom attracting higher talent does sound like democracy/capitalism. It is messier though just like democracy/capitalism but the products are far higher quality.

In UFC, guys string together 3-4 wins, get a title shot, maybe become champ, lose then disappear off the face of the earth. Every 2-3 years the scene changes, all the champs are replaced. It's hard to root for people when their gone just as fast as they came.

how the sports are run is the point of this thread.
good promotion of the sport and its fighters is not a negative, it's a positive on UFC

Beterbiev/Bivol
Fury/Usyk
you should read the grief on the boxing boards.
this never happens in UFC.

If anyone was good enough for top level boxing they wouldnt touch UFC with a stick.
Adesanya was a top level kickboxer and dominates UFC whilst he would not stand a change in a boxing ring. Why Else would he fight for 1/10 of the pay? Exactly.
I Honestly find myself watching more UFC than boxing nowadays. Much more straight forward. Boxing is more business & politics than anything. Fighters are Also terrified to lose their O which is annoying af.

but what is the point if the best can't fight the best. that is the point of any sport. the best has to fight the best.
Boxing has lost its way.

there are guys like freaking andrande who are well into their 30s who fought NOBODY and still cry they cant get mega fights.
Crawford SOMEHOW has a $10 million gurantee to fight some random russian cabbage farmer, I dont get how there is even money available to offer him that much, it will only sell like 50k PPV, that is not enough to cover $10 million for him let alone all the other costs and undercard. WHo is overpaying these guys, it makes them refuse to fight anyone too good, they rather fight some bum they have a 98% chance of beating for a highway robbery level paydays.

Charlos who goes through an entire career fighting bums.
even GGG got avoided like a plague when he was coming up, so he starts avoiding contenders when he's at the top.
now the biggest fights in boxing are clown shows like Jake Paul and MMA fighters lol
boxing is a dysfunctional organization.
