They are the folks who see "happily married" as "humble bragging". Or: "I enjoy living in this city" as "bragging". Or any variation of this - they seethe as soon as they realize that not everyone lives in their self-inflicted misery.

"Self-Inflicted?" you ask?

Indeed. The abdicating of personal responsibility in the world we live in is a sign of the embitterment disorder.

The folks here who cannot accept a simple fact:

Happily in a relationship >>>>> happily single >>>>> unhappily single >>>>> unhappily in a relationship

Are prime candidates for this diagnosis.

Or do you gloss over the dozens of threads per day with Miscers coping or invariably crying about relationships and the like?

A lot of people in relationships will also hide the fact that they aren't truly happy because not being in a relationship (even if unhappy) outweighs being single. Both men and women do this, stay with a partner they shouldn't receiving things like abuse and neglect but they don't bother leaving.

I know a ton of men who can't stand their wives and don't ever get any quality sex, but because they have the house and two kids they stay together. Even if the wife cheats on them or is an addict.

Come now, fellow lord of the land. I am describing the PTED which I am sure you have seen in your lives - it plagues rentcels as well. You know, the single mom with 4 kids from 3 different guys screeching "all guys are pigs!!!"

A few points:

1) That's trope - the "a lot are unhappy, and many who appear happy are unhappy". SS and the other divorcecels post this repeatedly;
2) While true some stay together when they probably shouldn't (especially for their kids' sake), the fact that you 'know a ton of men who hate their wives' says a lot more about you and your situation than it does about the real world.
