Coffeecels, how do you go about brewing at home?

I've been using a French press with pre-ground coffee, but I want to start making fresh ground coffee every day and maybe experiment with pour over. I'd rather not have an electric grinder, due to noise and have yet another device on my countertop. Anyone here have a manual coffee grinder, or use a pour over setup?

Drinking coffee now op. I used to grind it. You can actually grind it at Kroger. Cheaper that way too. I just use a ten dollar coffee pot and that way I can drink as much as I want to. I usually put a little liquid Irish cream or pumpkin spice in it to cook it off and for flavor. I love having coffee and ice cream together after my meal

Jura Impressa Z9. It is awesome. I bought with a bonus check many years ago and it is still making awesome coffee. I have the external milk chiller as well. Great at parties and the ladies are impressed with the Impressa!

I am a coffee snob, but lazy. Honestly if you aren’t getting like really high end single origin beans I wouldn’t bother with fresh-ground pour over every day. Just get some Peets coffee delivery service every 2 weeks. Use it up within 2 weeks and its great coffee for every day.

I use a hot water boiler and filters. Inexpensive decent brand.

I would go for a good brand and probably an espresso machine if aiming for quality.

I keep several methods, depending on how much I need to make and whether I want to prioritize speed or the zen-like hipster ritual of brewing coffee

1. Instant (constantly rotating brands): Sometimes all I want is something with caffeine within 60 seconds and no fuss. An electric kettle and instant coffee makes this happen.
2. Phin (pre-ground Trung Nguyen and Longevity condensed milk) - For Vietnamese coffee when I'm drinking coffee as a dessert.
3. Standard drip brewing machine (usually Dunkin original blend) - For mass quantities. It's fairly cheap at Costco.
4. Homemade clear ice with RO filtered water - LOL @ tap water icecels.

I have an electric grinder, but only use it when trying a different brand in whole bean. If you're an actual coffeecel that considers it one of your main hobbies, then by all means go crazy with a coffee bean grinder collection. But unless you're a world-class barista you almost certainly can't tell the difference between coffee ground with a fancy $300 manual burr grinder vs a $20 blade grinder from CVS.

Drip pot bc I'm lazy and unmotivated to complicate it beyond that. I've done French press, iced brews, etc. but it just ain't worth my time.

Pot coffee bc I fkn detest Keurig machines.

Have an electric grinder and I do pour over using a chemex and one of those gay thin-spouted kettle things so that the water pours out really slowly. Buy my beans from fabula.com they are pretty damn good

Lots of good advice here, thanks boyos.

I might just stick to my French press, as I already have it. However I definitely want to grind my own beans to ensure consistency. I see those cylinder looking grinders on Amazon are quite popular, does anyone know if they're a good design? I wasn't sure if pour over was worth the hype or effort.

Peet's is a great coffee, but I might get death wish, bones coffee or Cooper's cask coffee. The latter is the most expensive of the three, but they make damn good coffee.

I have gone through a bunch of equipment and found the best coffee I've ever made came from a Krups drip machine. I tend to avoid all the digital crap which seems to add $75-100 to an otherwise decently priced machine. Currently do pour over and instant.

Though like the other miscer said a few posts above, a good instant is hard to get away from.

I do want to try a percolator next. My father in law uses one and some of the best coffee I've had came from that percolator.

As far as grinders go, burrs are best. Hand burr grinders are neat but a pain in the ass. If you're hand grinding 4 tablespoons a day it'll take a good 2-3 minutes of going at it.

Have owned 3 super-automatics. All Saeco brand.

You cant beat it. Have a friend who is Swiss German and introduced me to the method almost 20 years ago. First machine lasted 10 years. 2nd machine I sold when we splurged on our 3rd machine we have now. Machine is 4 or 5 years old now. Think we paid about 2200 for it. No regrets!

I have the Philips 3200 Lattego, and love starting my day with a double cappuccino at home. I buy Ethiopian French Roast coffee beans from McNulty's in Greenwich Village.

I didn't think I'd like it this much - NYC has quite a few good coffee options around. But damn, what a way to start the morning.

Fresh grind beans make a huge difference brah. Just get a small electric grinder. Doesn't have to be too fancy if you're not making espresso. Manual ones are a huge pain in the ass imo.

I use an aeropress but a French press or chemex work just fine.

I personally didn’t care much for deathwish. Haven’t tried the other 2. May give the Coopers a shot, i have heard of it before. The thing I liked about Peets is if you get it delivered direct, i have gotten it where the roasted on date was the day before, lol. I like that I can see exactly how old each batch is.

This is my absolute favorite for pour over, but this stuff gets me jittery off of just a cup, and I like to drink multiple cups throughout the day. Can’t do that with this without getting heart palpitations:
