Safety Razor and Beard Crew: Question how to line up?

I’ve been keeping a light beard recently and I’m wondering is there a tool that makes it easy to keep the beard line nice?

I got a shave in South America while I was on vacation and he lined me up just holding a safety razor blade between his fingers LOL. It was the cleanest line-up I ever head.

It seems like using a standard double-sided safety razor would be too awkward to get the beard lines straight.

Is there something designed better just for beards?

Safety razor gang. I clean shave with it cause I can't grow a beard, but IDK why just using like the side 20% of a safety razor wouldn't work? Just rinse it frequently to keep it unclogged.

They're cheap af if you want to try them out. You can get a srsly aggressive one at Dollar Tree, then just buy a 5-pack of literally any other blade.

The tool that would help is called a "shavette." Holds a razorblade, looks like a cut throat razor. Cheap.

Alternatively you can use a straight edge (cutthroat) razor but you'd need a strop and impeccable technique.

Any brand that’s good?

Do you replace the blade and needed or sharpen the blade?

Shavette you replace the blades. Most use standard double edge blades that can be cut in half. Probably better to buy them ready to use tho.

Straight edge razors you use a strop and diamond stone to keep sharp.

I don't know good brands, just the basics. I use a regular safety razor. You can hit up reddit subs or shaving forums, all kinds of info.

Agreed on the reddit stuff.

I have been reading r/wicked_edge and BadgerAndBlade forums as I get into it. They know a ton of chit and will guide you in the right direction. Just keep in mind that all the dudes on there obsessing about shaving are literally this guy.

This for every day shave 100%. I've got 300 Voskhods, probably buy 500 more and be good for a good long while.

LOL this is what cracks me up about Reddit. So hard to take advice when I know this is what they look like behind the scenes. But i guess they put the research in.

But I don’t want to fully shave my face. I keep a light beard with a 1 guard. I just want something where I can clean-up the top line of my beard so it’s straight as well as the top of my mustache. I can clean my neck pretty easily with my electric and I don’t really get irritation, just lucky i guess.

I don’t think i would be able to hold the DE razor and get the top line of the beard comfortably. I try with my regular cartridge razor and its a pain the ass.

I think the Shavette makes the most sense. I just want to clean up the lines on my existing beard. I’m not lining up my haircut and fully sculpting my beard

OP do you suffer with Parkinson's? Genuine question. It's extremely easy to maintain a crisp beard line with a DE razor. I've done it by eye for years, why the fuk would you need a tool lol?

For the top of your beard for example the stroke has to go across your cheek, not downwards. Aka, the blade is perpendicular to your beard line and your hand moves from cheek to ear.
