What do you think of massage guns?
I'm skeptical of getting one because I'm not convinced they really help with recovery.
However, if misc convinces me, I'll ask Santa for one. Tired of my legs taking forever to heal after leg day or soccer. I don't need more injuries.

You could probably get a cheap one just to try it out. Or a rolling pin. I’ve used the latter and while it helps a little in the immediate, it doesn’t seem to do much overall. I feel like alternating heavy leg days with lighter/higher volume days to help with overall soreness.

You should always massage targeted muscle groups following activity the same day, it releases lactic acid buildup in the cells
Long story short it will decrease DOMS
Most people don't get enough protein during recovery, the faster you start feeding it the quicker you will recover

I have a cheap gun off of Amazon. Tbh it actually has helped me relieve painful knots under my shoulder blade, the only problem is you can’t reach your back yourself, that’s why it’s kinda worthless for me.
You might have better luck because you’re main use is for your legs, so it might be better for you. But I think it’s kinda what he said. It’s not really gonna promote recovery, just temporary relief.
The only thing that’s ever really helped me for legs has been daily stretching and taking a nice hot bath after leg day.

I go on YouTube and daily full body stretching follow alongs for like 30/45 min every morning and I’ve found that has helped a lot. I think having increased flexibility and range of motion has made lifting better for me.

highly recommend, have had a Theragun almost 3 years now and it was a game changer for me for recovery and avoiding doms, especially leg doms but also just recovery in general, also just highly relaxing and only thing that works on knots in my neck I get when tense
but my advice is make sure to get a Theragun or one that works like it that really uses percussion on the muscles vs the cheap ones that just vibrate

I think it makes recovery worse, BUT try it before you lift. Using it before you lift is 10/10 you feel warmed up and ready to go before you walk in. Gets the muscles full of blood and moving.
Chest day hit that inner chest with the scraper looking one then push in the directions of the fibers as it pummels you. Fuarkkkkk can’t tell you how good it feels

They are effective for 'pin and stretch' type work. Put that pinpoint attachment on any of your quads for instance and go through range of motion, it's a bit more comfortable than doing it laid out on a lacrosse ball. Not necessary but whatever. Also if your gf sucks at giving massage it's better pay off to hand her the thumper gun for 5 mins and letter rip on your traps or w/e.

I use a golf ball, baseball and tennis ball.
Also one of those blue curvy sticks.
Cant justify spending a lot of money to replace those tools as they work fine.

Tennis balls and massage guns do 2 different things.
Tennis balls actually floss/roll the muscle out. The massage guns doesn't do that, but it gets blood in there which is a relief.

There are two different types.
Vibrators and ones that actually have a good amount of force and travel.
I have had 3.
1. Was great, but the motor burned out after 10 hours (random one from Walmart.)
2. Was a basically a female masturbation toy and worthless.
3. Theragun. Completely amazing.
Helps a lot with a pulled muscle. I pulled my pec a few weeks ago and working on it for 10 minutes did a lot to help. I do seem to get better pumps after I have I massage it out and then go back to it the next time.
