Homeless guy asked me to buy him a drink at 711 today
He was in front of the fridge I had to manoeuvre around the bum to get a drink and as I walked away I got a "heeeyyyy heyy man, can you please buy me a drink I have no money?"
I said said sorry man cant do that.
Proceeded to go to the counter, swiped my card and walked off, added a hot dog to my purchase aswell.
Walked out logged into my brokerage account and saw my portfolio is up+$15k today, but still couldn't buy him a drink.
Mogged.

I don't give money to beggars crew.
I would rather donate to a homeless charity or something.

Odd flex but okay. I give homeless people gift cards to local grocery stores. There's a large addiction problem that's rampant in the city nearest me. If you give them money, they'll just use that to buy dope and liquor. They get food at the shelter nearby. If you get them a gift card, they'll have to use it for money, or sell it I guess, who knows. When I lived in the city I'd hand out Christmas cards with gift cards within to homeless people I'd see every day on my way to work. I know many of them weren't actually addicts, some were really not well mentally, some were handicapped, some were veterans. They seemed really happy with the gifts. It can't be easy standing on a cold street day in, day out and have everyone pass you buy and ignore you like you're a piece of trash.

I once bought a **** ton of Jimmy John’s bread(they sell the fresh stuff from the night before at super cheap, or did like 10 years ago) and gave it to homeless. College campus was in the city so it was easy to give it away

I used to steal from vegas buffets, usually apples or danishes and sneak them out and give to the homeless. I felt like Robin Hood lol

I was walking on Rideau Street a few weeks ago; and they were people camping out.
Now i am seeing panhandling in areas like Gloucester.... I always thought such activity was just limited to just downtown and Vanier. Its pretty sad.
