Look into a Tippman 22. With a few small modifications you will have an AR-15 that will always be a 22. Just in case they manage to actually ban the AR-15.

I've been meaning to get an AR "pistol", with a short barrel. Anyone have recommendations? I want quality, but with a budget of $1500 or less.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Already have .22 "AR" style....the type that is basically a normal 22 long rifle with a plastic casing.....it's fun and cheap but constantly jams and I just got bored with it. Been sitting in my closet for years.

Also feels kind of "poser-ish" to show up with it. Everybody that's shot it thinks its cool, but I'm looking to get the real thing.

Build one. Go to your local gun store and purchase a lower receiver.

I've been planning an AR build, going to start building it next week.

-LaRue upper

-Stag arms lower receiver (local WY company, just looking to support them. By all means choose whatever lower you wish.)

-PSA lower build kit with Magpul furniture

-Mbus front and rear iron sights

-LaRue trigger

Should be in the $1100-1200 range. Then you'll have money for a sight or scope and accessories. Look in the MFC thread, guys in there have been doing this for years.

You can convert it to shoot .223 and it will still be classified as a 22.

I thought OP already had ARs, obviously you should buy an AR-15 first.

There are tons of great ones. Just a few of the best are:

BCM
Daniel Defense
Blackout Defense < new but seems good
Wilson Combat
Noveske
LMT

I’ve only used BCM and Noveske parts in my builds so I can’t personally speak to the others, but they all have a great reputation.

Think I've narrowed it down to either...

-Ruger AR-556 MPR
-Springfield Saint

I'm also interested in the Saint Victor Pistol and the Saint 300 Blackout version. Heading to the local shop today to see what they've got. They're usually good on price and have a lot in stock.

Watched a few reviews that didn't go well for the Springfield (but didn't seem to be the norm) which is making me lean more towards the Ruger.
