How do I stop people from merging in my lane?

Long line up at the left turn today. Some fukwit decided to drive to the front and try to merge in. What's the best way to stop these beches?

Do you have to go bumper to bumper? Do you have to position your car out a little over the next lane?

how do you know he did it to cut in line, maybe it was an out of towner that didn't know the specific traffic pattern, or just someone that didn't realize the line was for his exit till he passed the line. aggressive driving just causes more traffic in the end
