Bench rows. Saves my lower back from going to snap city.
Have been enjoying lat pull-down recently as well.

Pulldowns (wide-grip or medium-neutral grip) 3-5 sets
Cable Pullovers 3 sets

Pull ups, kettlebell swings & snatches, kettlebell rows, renegade rows work best for me. For the life of me I could never get the hang of barbell rows of any type.

Chin-ups and pull-ups are GOAT for functional movement, especially if you do them between sets of rows to help decompress the spine hnnngh
Barbell Rows - slow and controlled while squeezing shoulder blades together at the top of the movement
Superset with chin-ups
fuking hnnnngh
and don't forget face pulls (watch AthleanX videos for proper form since 90% of people in the gym do facepulls incorrectly and hit entirely different muscles)

I bought myself some climbing rope.
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=climbing+...f=nb_sb_noss_1
I am really ridiculous at pull ups. I can stop pulling up at any point, think about life for a bit and then continue pulling up to chest. Then I lower myself down to midway or wherever, stop. Wonder about stuff and continue lowering myself down. I can hold a dead hang for a minute easy. Never really tried for longer. I can FULL front lever. Form isn't great, still working on perfecting it, but....yes I can FULL front lever.
I seriously believed I was going to be able to climb up the rope in a L-straddle using only upper body strength, no legs first day. That was a HHHHHUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE NOPE!
The grip is different from hanging on a bar. You need way more finger strength. I've only done my rope climbing routine twice, but my fingers feel "fat". Which is good, I want this strength. It's next level stuff.
No idea how good of a back "exercise" climbing a rope is, but I am going to be able to climb a fukcing rope using only upper body strength. I will make it look easy. Hopefully before 2024.
