Navy to begin accepting more recruits from lowest aptitude percentile amid deepening

The Navy will allowed 7,500 recruits to fall into the lowest category allowed by military standards

The new Navy guidelines will allow the service to enlist 7,500 recruits that fall into "Category IV," which are applicants with a high school diploma who scored within the 10th and 30th percentile on the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT), according to Military.com

The problem has been the most pronounced with the Army, who missed its 2022 fiscal year recruiting goals by 15,000 soldiers. While the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps were all able to squeak by and narrowly meet their goals, all three had to dig deep into their pool of delayed entry program candidates to make up the shortfall, putting them behind their 2023 goals.

lmao, I did 4 years in the Navy and...the bar was already so low back then. I shudder to think what kind of riffraf is going to be let in now.

Also, the ASVAB is stupid easy...anyone who can't get a high score on that should be extremely embarrassed.

This isn't new.

I was the Education Petty Officer for my bootcamp class, so I got to see everyone's scores.

Out of 80 guys there were two legit retards in my company.

They had to lower the physical standards for CPD. 75% of 18-21 year olds were failing the sit ups and the run.....

So instead of 13:40 to do a mile and a half, they now have 14 minutes. And instead of 38 sit ups in a minute, they only have to do 32 sit ups. They'll probably fail that as well......

I remember seeing the binder for my Division on the ship. The LCPO of my Department scored a 35 I believe it was. Fuking lol.

Last FY not one recruiter for the Michigan national guard hit their recruiting goal. Not a single one. Expect a lot more of this.

If you want some good lulz, stop into a recruiter's office sometime and shoot the breeze with them.. I used to have to travel a lot with work, and I did that a couple of times whenever I was in a new town with time to kill. The struggle is real. I had a conversation with an Army recruiter once that went something like this....

"So how are things Sarnt.. How's the Army these days, you putting these kids in boots?"

Him: "FUK NO!Don't get me wrong because I try man... I really really try. I tell them about adventure, action, travel and seeing the world while getting paid for it. Wanna jump out of planes? Rappel from helicopters? Learn a skill even? Shiit... only thing these kids want to do is work at the god damn chicken plant for $8 an hour and play video games every night."

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry lol.

I don't know for sure, but you hear stories about punishment. Letters in their files that have the potential to be career killers... that kinda thing. I knew a couple that had been recruiters and it left such a bad taste in their mouths that they didn't even like to talk about it. And both refused to wear the recruiter badge on their uniforms.

I always thought the contrast between them and Drill Sgts was pretty interesting though.. All former Drill Sgts are tremendously proud of it.. Recruiters, not so much lol.

My Partner is a former Marine, he never was a recruiter, but he heard stories like, "I need you to find an Asian who's in band." They'd be like, "We're in Oklahoma!!!!" "Just do it!!!"

This. I took the ASVAB in 10th grade or something and got 99th percentile on almost everything lmao. Not surprised our country's military strategy has gone downhill in the last 3 decades. They promote from within and are filled with morons. But that's just the recruiting pool. Garbage in, garbage out. Americans suck at thinking and outsource it.

Took it in 11th grade [I was in JROTC for 4 years] and got a 95+ percentile on everything but the mechanical part. Proceeded to have recruiters bombarding me with phone calls the first 3 years I was in college.

Theres no purpose with our military. No enemy. We love China now, let their students attend our schools, buy our homes, we use their apps.....

Why join...no sense of urgency.

Zoomers also are very skeptical and don't like America. Millennial grew up with 911 and are more patriotic.
