"Dying to compete" Article explores dozens of recent Bodybuilding deaths

deaths before covidincluded in article

Fascinating article. I had no idea there were so many. Pro BB sounds absolutely awful. I cant imagine the desire to destroy their internal organs and suffer to get stage ready only to look like freaks but I can appreciate the effort even if I think it's a mental disorder just as trannism or such.

Also try incognito if you get a paywall. I did not get one, however

It's like 50 paragraphs long. Plus it is against the rules to post about the subject here

Here's one paragraph
She told him to go to urgent care and repeated the advice when he reached out later that evening. “I’m pretty sure I got *celltech* in my blood during my *PWO meal* today. It’s better. Just not gone,” texted Alexander, referring to a *protein shake* he’d given himself. “I will go if I feel like I’m dying. But being 23 days away from my show I don’t want to get pumped with fluids and ruin my physique for not a heart attack.”

The next morning, his coach messaged at 5:45 a.m.: “How is your heart rate?”

Alexander never responded. His friends Aaron and Robyn Wyner said they were on the phone with Kalick when the couple found Alexander in the shower with the water running. They performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

It turns out being a walking drug factory is bad for you. My friend died of a heart attack at a young age. Dude was on sauce. Can't prove it was the sauce, but wouldn't surprise me at all.

These people aren't just taking test or basic cycles, they mess with insulin, gh, and a whole bunch of other ish which is completely their choice and I have no personal issue with their decision but lets not pretend they are just taking test and some pre workout from the vitamin Shoppe and living healthy lifestyles, I feel like articles like this will make lazy people read and some how conform their decision to be lazy like this is the norm in fitness

Obviously being juiced out of your treehouse is gonna increase the risk of early death. But imma need the vaccine status of all the individuals before reading a single sentence of that article

theres 2 rampant issues I have seen being objective and completely honest

1) coaches who lack the knowledge to give PED advice giving horrible advice and having no idea how the organs function and what is needed/healthy to do with the internal systems when peaking an athlete/running their off season in a healthy manner. Usually this isnt simply abusing drugs but misusing them and not being able to read someone's body especially when super low BF and understanding how to pull BACK dramatically at that point and how to NOT use diuretics and control blood sugar(hypo/hyperglycemia)

2) people not understanding the consequences and health effects of pushing your body well beyond its physical limits in both muscularity and conditioning. The rapid weight fluctuations are extremely rough on the heart, being EXTREMELY low bf while being super high performance is also extremely rough on the heart, bodybuilding is often BOTH of those things continually, thus, very rough on the heart.

So it isn't just simply 'drugs" and "drug being taken to the extreme" that is too easy of a cop out on why this is happening.

Anabolics aren't that harmful in the grand scheme of things if used moderately/intelligent. Being a stage ready bodybuilder/at a competitive level isn't so great for you however.

Its like having one or two beers per day. VS drinking 20-30 beers per day. Big difference.

no its more like making your liver as weak as possible and then having some hard liquor, its not the excess, its the extreme stress(potency not quantity) on an extremely stressed body. Not the greatest analogy but closer to what the issue is.

Nothing will happen unless IFBB changes the judging criteria, or a coach/dealer gets indicted.
