My ex-wife legit "cooked" maybe 20 times over the course of our 9 years together.

Women these days can't cook for chit. You could consider yourself lucky if you meet one who knows how to make a box of Hamburger Helper without F'ing it up too much, srs.

I never understood cooking,

take a piece of steak, put it on the fire, open your ****ing mouth and eat it, the end,

this whole ****ing thing with stupid European homosexuals like Gordon Ramsay and idiotic TV shows, standing around for four hours cutting some stupid ****, adding some stupid ****, boiling some stupid ****, cutting some more stupid ****, mixing some stupid **** together, and then setting some stupid **** aside, then combining some stupid **** with more stupid ****, and then sitting there like a ****ing ***got going: Oh, I think this needs a little bit more acidity,

you ****ing ***s lol.

I love to cook and it ALWAYS impressed sloots. I can cook my ass off, smoke any kind of meat/bbq, homemade pasta and sauces, handmade tortillas. Made birria a couple of nights ago. Roasted chuck and short rib for 5 hours in authentic Mexican spices, reduced consome, added fresh onion/cilantro and whole fat mozz. So good. Cooked tacos in fat from the meat that I skimmed.

Yes.

I'm english/spanish, she's african/asian and we are both very well travelled. As such, we have a very wide range of culinary tastes/backgrounds/experiences and have spent a lot of time teaching each other to cook various things.

I did most of the cooking for my former spouse and me. I really enjoy cooking and frequently make some relatively complex, gourmet recipes for dinner (mostly French/German/Italian but with other stuff mixed in). She was too self-conscious about messing up to give it much effort unless it was something easy that she was very familiar with. Every once in a while, we cooked "together," and it was usually enjoyable. More often I was making the main course and at least one side dish while she maybe prepared a vegetable as another side.

I'd be willing to bet hand over fist that 90% of the delicious home cooked meals you and your old lady make are fkn disgusting IRL.

That's how it is for most "ethnic food" couples I've ever seen. If you and her are an exception to that trend, then good on ya.

He's saying that the process of cooking food in general is made out to be a way more elaborate and interesting concept than it is, not that eating cooked food is bad.

I tend to agree with him, tbh.

hell no. I like the kitchen to myself when cooking. not some filthy cretin getting in my way

that being said, i cook most of our meals (gf). she needs to be able to follow a recipe while it comes intuitively for me. she was using hello fresh garbage before we moved in together.

cooking is fukking easy, dk why people struggle with it.

Kinda a mix of a couple and just watching videos.

Package of dry guajillio peppers DE-SEED these
1 onion
2 cloves
2 cloves of garlic
Mexican oregano
salt/pepper
chili powder
cumin
5 bay leaves
4 lb chuck roast
2 lbs beef short ribs

sear chuck put in pan with 6-7 cups of water and roast @ 300 until tender
Let sit in fridge overnight
skim fat off top and place in bowl
strain consome and put peppers/onions/garlic in blender with a splash of the 'juice' and blend and add back to consome
reduce down until you're happy with the flavor
double strain consome to get rid of the pepper skins
break down meat by hand to get rid of fat/bones gristle.

used skimmed fat in skillet for tacos and stuff with cheese/meat. You're supposed to use chihuahua cheese, but Kroger whole fat mozz has a better flavor than any mozz I can get here and I've tried them all.

Thanks. Raped. Will try.

I usually go to a mostly Hispanic farmer's market near me and get Cotija cheese for taco purposes, but maybe I'll try some of that and some of the mozzarella suggestion and see which I like better.

You need a melting cheese for this and Cotija isn't good for that. Mozz or chihuahua, they're basically the same. I buy my ingredients from an International Farmers market as well.
