Talented fukers.

I was in grade school at the time and my gf (yes I had gf's in grade school) was really into the cars.

I saw some of the best concerts of my life in 7th and 8th grades.

Cars, Ozzy w/Randy Rhoads, Foreigner 4, VanHalen, etc.

The Cars are awesome.

Ric Ocasek produced a few Weezer albums, and some for many other bands too including Bad Brains and Bad Religion.

The Rentals, formed by Weezer bassist Matt Sharp, had a successful song called "Friends of P." Matt Sharp admitted in an interview that "P" was a reference to Paulina Porizkova, the wife of Ric Ocasek.

But yeah, I still rock out to The Cars frequently.

I could swear I have this album, but I would have been really young so someone would have had to have bought it for me.

I didn't know that. I've listened to the first Weezer album a lot.

My daughter likes a band called Lemon Demon and when she played it for me I thought a lot of the songs remind me of The Cars and maybe Devo.

I think they were popular many years after that release date. Released 1978 but i feel like it really gained traction in the early 80s. When MTV came out The Cars had some of the best videos and a bunch of people bought that album.

I didn't get into them until early 90s when in highschool. Radio stations in my area were still playing them a lot. Probably on the cusp of being considered classic at that time, I guess. I didn't realize their first album was 1978. They definitely seemed ahead of their time.
