Be honest, how many of you can actually taste the "delicate notes" of wines?

Srs it all pretty much tastes the same to me. Am I unrefined?

I can taste the difference for sure but am not on of those pretentious “slight hint of almond, tobacco, and apricot” types.

I like medium bodied reds and whites.

American reds are generally light to medium bodied.

And I’m not drinking any fcking Merlot!!!!

I can taste the difference between a crappy box/bag wine, and a cheap $20-30 bottle. The bagged stuff tastes like syrup.

I won’t go over that because I can’t pick up on stuff like “smells of a white lily when the bees pass over with just the right amount of pollen.”

Wine snobs hate my go to though. Simple bottle of ménage a trois. Usually their darker reds.

Owner of our company once gave everyone a bunch of Napa Valley wines because he was never gonna drink it all. Everyone in the company got 2 or 3. Looked them up and they’re around $70-90 bottle. It was good, but not good enough for me to pony up almost $100 on one when I can get 4 cheaper bottles for that much.

Yes, but not the over-the-top descriptive level of it. There are definitely diminishing marginal returns in terms of wine prices. From $15 to $100 is a big difference. After that it has way more to do with how many cases were available than just quality.

Delicate notes? Nah. But sometimes I'll take a sip and notice different fruit like pear in some whites or cherry or in reds. After plenty of single grape wine drinking overall I tend to like red blends the most. They're not all winners but overall my favorite.

Isn't wine tasting a scam? I mean, beyond telling that there's a difference between a $10 bottle and a $100 bottle.

I saw a show once where they tried a blind test with sommeliers, and these experts didn't seem to know much. Granted, that could itself have been fake.
